Adding weapon to existing character in SP

So I only have fists on my boss in the single player campaign. Is there a way to get him a different weapon? I noticed that we can add ranged traits to guys using fists, but how could I get pistols for him?

Go to mob boss or policeman's house to buy weapons.

Yeah. play the game and buy weapons from Deputy's, Officer's and Crime Lords.

Crime Lords = Purple Hat Icon
Deputy/Sheriff/Officer = Purple Star Icon

I forgot to go to my character screen and equip my new weapon, but that won't happen again. LOL
