Not quite as amazing as the original, but still a solid game and an effective platform change.

Good: Beautiful visuals, drawn just like the first game. The audio is also pleasant, and adds to the traditional Japanese feel. The story and plot meshes well with the original game, without relying on it too much. Some nice twists and loops in the story keep it interesting throughout.

The best feature of the game compared to the PS2 version of Okami is how much easier it is to use the stylus to paint. It took a while to get really good at drawing with the analog stick, so the stylus is just marvellous.

Bad: Moving around the larger parts of the world can be somewhat difficult on the DS, as it still seems to be mostly designed for analog control, making turning neatly a problem. The world is also a lot smaller than the original, and mostly consists of the same areas, so some more variety in that regard would have been nice.

Verdict: Not quite as amazing as the original, but still a solid game and an effective platform change.
