Okami is a beautifull and immersive game plagued by some flaws in the gameplay department.

Uff! 35 hours later I finally beat Okami, a last generation gem that I never had the pleasure of experiencing before. And best of all, in glorious HD resolution! What a marvel to behold... Okami HD is beautifull. Its artstyle, which highly resembles a more charming version of old japanese paintings, is a feast for the eyes. Its characters and story(ies) grab our attention since the first moment. Over a long (perhaps too long) journey the player will meet hundreds of different characters, hear their stories, and complete many sidequests with the help of various brush techniques the player will acquire over the course of the game. These techniques are needed to solve puzzles, reach platforms and even defeat dozens of enemies. Here is where it has, perhaps, its only weakness - battle gameplay. Okami is so easy that I even managed to complete the game without dying ONCE! 35 hours and not even ONE death! The biggest problem is that the combat gets rather tedious after a couple of hours. It wouldnt be a big problem IF the game wasnt so big. For many times I felt I was playing against my will due to the boredom of the combat. It just seemed to drag for too long. 35h for a game without the proper gameplay to back it up just felt too much. This is even more strange having in mind this is, after all, a Hideki Kamiya game, a developer known for great combat gameplay (Devil May Cry, Viewtifull Joe and more recently Bayonetta). Wasnt for this and Okami would be among my favorite games of all time. I still must highly recommend okami to those eager for a different experience full on charm and great arstyle but be warned: If you dont have the patience for a looooooooong game with average combat gameplay you may want to skip this one...
