It is a rushed project. If they finish it properly, wonders may happen...

User Rating: 7 | Numen: Contest of Heroes PC
Hm... small company, interesting project... good for what it has to offer, which is... ambition mostly...

The game is a nice 3D RPG attempt, however it leaves lots to be desired:

1. Graphics/Visuals:

Surprisingly decent, considering the small possibilities of the company. Considering modern standards though... Take your pick.

...

2. Story/Atmosphere

Rushed. One has the constant feeling of an unfinished something, like not playing a real game but more of a demo, an exercise, a sandbox.

The idea of starting as a kid and do a few quests into your native village, accommodating with the universe, is a very pleasant one. More RPG-s could do with that for a logical start and tutorial. Reminds of Fable 1, and Numen here, in some points, is even better.

We are talking about the great mighty gods of Olympus and no proper cinematics: no thundering voices, no frowns, no head-to-toe weighing?! Unforgivable...

Not even voices for chars or npcs??? Another game killer fact. Inexcusable for contemporary standards.

...

3. Gameplay/Mechanics

Decent, not bad. The camera does its job, controls are ok. The game hooks you for a while here, and it may be said (subjective point of view, of course) that the combat system beats Dragon Age Origins's old and clunky D&D...

The character creation is poor though (nobody pretends you gotta have Saints Row The Third's superb char customization system everywhere, but at least a similar try?... :))

Related to char customization, I won't ever undersatnd why magic char gets to be brunette and warrior blonde??????...

The difficulty is not well scaled. Some mobs are too easy, some are too hard. One may stumble upon impossible to beat mobs even in the hero's childhood; for example Ice Giants, Skeletons... what are they there for? To pop the Styx tutorial part?! No thanks.

Then the teleport platforms aren't quite properly introduced to the player. Just walk to one and get teleported... somewhere... no sense of WHY anyone needs to go there or WHEN... Let's roam around and get busted by hungry high level mobs, sure, that's inspired!...

...

4. Replayability

Decent, again, not low, not high. You can replay as another class, or gender, choose a new god from the 9 the game exhibits. Of course, there's plenty of replay value there, but it doesn't mean it couldn't be improved. For example: different endings, romance choices etc.

.....................

The game deserves a 7, but mostly as an encouragement for the company.

>>>>

Game killers: unbalanced difficulty, lack of voice acting;

Game boons: pleasant, not excessively gory 3D universe, acceptable combat system (real time tendency)
