I seriously don't get what is so great about Nintendogs. It was my first game, and it was okay for the first week or so, now It bores me out of my mind. Let me cut to my review...
So you start the game with a puppy of your choice. The game then tells you to name the dog, using the microphone. It could be easy, say it's name 3 times and your done, or you could be there for an hour screaming your dog's name. Okay so it has a name. Now, still in tutorial, you must teach it to sit. Easy. Your finished with the tutorial, now your on your own. Your dog will probably just wander around.... doing nothing. You can feed it, then watch it, eat... That's about as much fun as watching a cat eat. It goes back to ignoring you. You CAN somewhat interact with the dog. If you call it, you can pet it. I can understand petting a REAL animal, because it's soft and loves on you. But petting something virtual is about the equivalent of petting a paper plate. It lies there, wile you pet it. Teach it tricks, let's try that! You easily teach it shake and lie down, and all the basic stuff. BUT that's about it. When you try something more advanced, you will get halfway though teaching it and it will walk away and forget everything. There is always taking it on a walk! It walks. It's about as much fun as walking a paper plate that craps every once in a while. But you can take it to the park! Where it walks around and ignores you. You can try and play fetch with it, but it will take the ball, go in the back, and chew it up. Tap the screen 20 or so times for the bonehead to finally realize; "Oh! You want this back!" After about 10 sessions of that it finally learns to bring it back automatically. There is also a park with other dogs! They run around, and ignore you. You can try fetch or Frisbee, but that's just 3 boneheads chewing up the ball in the back. Contests! Let's do those! There is Frisbee, but some dog breeds have to a heck of a lot more then others to succeed. Agility is easy, great way to earn crap loads of useless money, and obedience is VERY difficult for the upper class's, seeing as your dog won't let you teach a lot of the tricks required. There are hundreds of items, but you have to FIND them in the street! That's why money is pointless because all you use it on is food and shampoo. You can spend it on other dogs, but then the frustration starts all over... BUT you can get with your buddy and see his dog! BUT all they do if run around and sniff each other, completely ignoring you... and it's not like it's going to be some cool mix breed, you can only pick 3 different colors for each breed.
Well, I think I made my point. If your looking for fun and exitment with a dog, buy a real one.
