I have to admit that when I heard you could have a virtual pet, I was leery. Oh I've had "virtual pets" before.. the cat that chased your mouse cursor, the GigaPet accidently "punished" to death while absently watching TV, but these pets took very little attention and work.

Nintendogs, ANY version, grows on you in the way only a tiny digital puppy can do. The starting selection of pets is actually pretty good, being different for each Release Version of the game. In this awesome Bundle version, you get a Blue Nintendogs DS, complete with the cutest paw print decals for the face and lid!

You earn "Trainer Points" by feeding, grooming, playing with, and taking for walks, this digital puppy. They have their own personalities, meaning you can get two boxers, with different coats (3 colors per breed), with different attitudes. This means they'll have favorite toys and toys they hate, music they'll dance to and music they'll just wander in a Malaise in when you play it, and even has a hand in whether or not your pooch likes the Neighbor dogs it meets on its walks with you!

Graphically, I was really impressed by this game. The Dogs look great, and their movements are very realistic. The homeplace and neighborhood you walk in are very well done, and make you feel like you have an actual virtual space to play in!

In regard to sound, music, dogs barking, the noise toys make are very clear and impressive. The ability to talk to your pooch and give it voice commands expands the game immensly, but can be kind of tricky sometimes. Tip: Make sure you remember the exact inflection of the command you teach your pooch, or you'll finf yourself retraining it.

Value? this game is an obsessive compulsive's DREAM. With so many items to find and collect and unlock and trade for, it can take a person a good long time to get them all. While some of the walking and exhibitions can get repetitive, putting it down for a day refreshes your will to play. (This occurs mainly when you see that cute dog bound up to you, begging to be pet and missing you!

I LOVE this game!
