What is the fastest way to get coins?

I've found a much faster method than all of these. But you'll need some extra wiimotes handy. Wait until the double coin marker goes to the Animal crossing game, then set all of your wiimotes to play as guest Mii's. Have the guards do nothing and the only a single animal collect all the candy. If you have 4 wiimotes, then you'll get 5 stamps for a single round, which evens out to 120 coins. Then you just switch the miis and repeat.
If you don't have any Wiimotes then just play the single player game you're best at over and over again.

The fastest way that I've found to get coins is to speedrun through Donkey Kong's Crash Course. If you grab all of the bananas along the way, you'll have a selection of coins spontaneously appear on the course. Combine those coins with the standard course completion/score coins and you'll gain a lot of coins extremely fast.
Alternatively, play on courses that are currently set up with x2 (double) coins! Needless to say, you'll rack up coins like nobody's business. -
I use the Yoshi based mini-game. Try to pick up the presents in the levels. Some will give 10 coins for picking them up. Others have the check marks to help with the mini-game, but I tend to get at least one +10 coin present in the first ten stages if I don't skip.
