Kevin enters the shadowy realm of ninja warrior Ryu Hayabusa in this review of Ninja Gaiden 3.
This is what you get after all the hype and anticipation. I didn't had much hopes anyway for this game when i heard Tomonobu Itagaki has left the studio.
"A game for the masses." WHat's wrong with that? Are you losers sad that everyone else can enjoy the game? Ninja Gaiden 3 isn't any easier than Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2, but Sigma 2 didn't get ripped the way this one did. NG3 is hands down the best Ninja Gaiden of all time.
SO people who like a challenging game are "losers"? Right.
There's nothing wrong with making an original game for the masses. What's wrong is taking a title that has established itself as a real challenge and dumbing it down for the casual player. NG3 may be the best for anyone who couldn't make it past the first boss in NG Black, and likes to sit back with a game that plays itself, but for the rest of us it pales in comparison. Another game watered down for the sake of sales.
FighterForJc is right. I love how the game is a total cakewalk and how everything is ridiculously obvious.
Now the casual player can enjoy ninja gaiden too! It's no longer challenging. You no longer need to think on your feet. You just mash one button and win! This is the pinnacle of the series!! NOW EVERYONE CAN PLAY!!! *insert crazy laugh*

@Blazakenki @asyland What do you mean ? I thought CALL OF RYU MODERN NINJA 3 was by far the best in the series .
Seriously, why do you judge this game so low like that? I played it, it wasn't that bad!
I just played da demo now & I like it, thats 1 crazy Dragon nimpo......but it has only 1....& no dismemberments....I was all set to go buy this tmrw morning but I think I just changed my mind after hearing these downfalls whilst NG2 is Awesome!~ I was expecting NG3 to be better than NG2.......what went wrong........
I'm more pissed that the WiiU is supposedly getting the version we wanted from the beginning. Either way this game held so much promise but just didn't live up to my expectations. Ninja Gaiden/Black is still the best in the current gen series. While I enjoyed NG2. It wasn't meant for a casual play through like I wanted sometimes. I hate that Team Ninja keep putting out a game on one console then updates it another like the sigma series for PS3 gamers.
I have been playing this series since I was 11 and this game was shit. I can't believe Tecmo would allow such a stain. I pre-ordered this game and took it back two days later.
@neaha I think 5.5 is fair. I say that after years of play with this franchise. Ninja Gaiden 3 should not exist.
@neaha Why ? Its an absolute mess of a game , poor level design , easy to defeat boring enemies , terrible bosses that require zero thought to defeat , Stupid change to the nimpo system where as soon as you,re in any trouble you can clear the whole screen of enemies , nothing to collect ie skulls and scarabs to add replay value , no leveling up your weapons or no weapons to find in game , the controls are nowhere near as tight and responsive as previous games , 4 years after NG2 it actually looks worse graphically , and to top it all off the story the one thing that was supposed to be its redeeming factor is actually worse than the rubbish and nonsense of the previous games , and has the gayest main boss in gaming history . But apart from all that you think the game deserved a 7 or 8 . The game was judged for what it was and that is stain on the Ninja Gaiden name and the poorest game in the series by a long long way .
on hard/mentor difilcuty there is little projectile spaming-it went away together whit Itagaki, and you have a bow wich auto-targets this taype of enemies whit a single shot kill.so its not a problem at all. a relly bad fan-review suprisingly from Kevin. sorry about my bad english. I have Sigma 1(beaten on very hard) and Sigma 2(half way trough master difilcuty) and this is a great game in its oun right. IN Ninja trials level up your ninja ofline, fight some old enemies and Genshin!the combat is stil great and nothing feels like it.maybe DMC 3. Ninja Gaiden 3 is ment to be playd on hard and master difilcuty.
this game is a terrible disappointment. but after reviewing the dlc it would seem that the developers realized their f@$% up and haphazardly added 2 weapons from ng2 and some classic bosses from ng1 and ng2. but the display is still bland along with everything else and while the dlc may improve this game to a 6.5 it still needs a major overhaul to resemble the previous games. hopefully they'll release something similar like ninja gaiden black next year with ng3 where they've fixed a lot of these terrible disappointments and included improvements.
I played three series before, ninja gaiden 1, 2, sigma 2, but in this one, i can see that the game viewers are giving this game a hard time! Why? It is so bad that can only be 5.5 points? Man, this is so depressing!
@hungally123 the main problem with the game is the name it carries Ninja Gaiden this is simply just not a NG game as we know it offers nothing to fans of the previous games , the combat is so poor that all that is required to succeed is to simply hit X , the game basically plays itself , the QTE are horrible and have no place in Ninja Gaiden, the controls are nowhere near as tight and responsive , the level design is boring and the backgrounds are totally bland and uninteresting ,the game plays awful and it looks worse than NG2 , the one thing that was to be its redeeming factor, the story, is just as bad as the others if not worse with the gayest main boss you will ever see in a game , there are no shops in game, no upgrades, no skulls or scarabs to collect , there is no sense of reward or challenge , the game is just one massive mess , the best way to sum it up is to say its Ninja Blade 2 not NG3 and it was lucky to get 5.5 because it is not half as good as the last .
Other than slaughtering the series it seems like team ninja tried to make the interactions with ryu and the villian like Batman AC. The villian reminds me of the joker. If they would have kept NG2 and just added levels bosses and new weapons it would be 10x better than this.
i wish japanese developers would frickin stop this westernization of their games. its pissing me off, i mean look at what happened to resident evil? what the hell are they thinking? at least sega is keeping it real
@meedokicky NG black was the pinnacle of the series in opinion , i would def buy sigma on ps3 though its actually a better game than sigma 2 , trust me you dont want to put yourself through playing this abomination of a game .
in the review the game is being criticized for being "you watch more than u play" "and the story interrupts the action" but those things were in mgs4 and the gave it a 10, don't get me wrong i love mgs4. i'll buy it when the price drops
konata babatunde lewis trinidad this game is a classic cant wait to get a copy tumbs up love the 3draphics cellphone lost 739-8280 home phone 667-0260
This is what happens when you try to make a game that will please everybody... You end up doing the opposite!
So depressing.... Why is every game trying to be God of War? And WHY would you f#ck up what was working GREATLY.
When the previous ones came out everyone was like "Damn it's hard" "It's unplayable, un-finish-able" "it's impossible" Now they are like, this way too easy for me. What the heck do you guys want ?
@Blood-Online what the hell are you rambling on about , the original games were never intended to please the casual gamer , they were for gamers who were after a little more challenge than follow the big yellow arrow to the next objective hand holding of todays games , and guess what, those gamers were delighted with the difficulty , playability and general high quality of NG , what the hell do you guys want ? a sense of reward and challenge , tight responsive controls , amazingly deep combat system, great boss battles, great level design , interesting and varied enemies to fight , basically everything this abomination is not.
I bet all the people who were upset about Itagaki leaving Tecmo/Team Ninja agree with this review.
