This game seems so full of promise when you first fire it up. When you start there's a fun combat sequence that seems like the tip of the iceberg but thats where the fun stops. You spend the next hour running around and talking to villagers and the like, finding out info and getting fetching missions. The combat, once you get to it, is clunky and not intuitive at all. The camera is a big pain to use as well and gets in the way constantly, especially during combat. I accepted different missions trying to get a feel for the game but the fighting was too bothersome to keep me at this task. If your a big fan of Square you can probably deal with the shortcomings of combat because the story and characters are interesting but the play is where this title falls short. If you can find this title for cheap (and you can easily), and your a Square Enix buff, hop in, otherwise avoid Nier.
