Drag racing was never such a drag....

I don't know what I was expecting when I picked up this title, considering the basic premise being one of "running a car a couple of hundred yards in a straight line as fast as possible", but heck, the price was right, and the only other alternative was bowling.
In a small nutshell, the idea behind this game is pretty much to tune your car to suit the track conditions, then push the x button as fast as possible when the yellow lights turn on.
Again, and again, and again, and....
Although some depth to this can come from learning exactly how to tune the various parameters of your car (how much and when gas is available, when the clutch kicks into a new gear and for how long, etc.etc.), you can hire a crew chief to do the job for you, thus turning this into a fancy reaction-time game with not-so-good load times between races (considering the shabby graphics that come at the end of said load times).
The various tracks are pretty much identical at race time (duh....they're all a straight line...), the announcer sounds like an animatronic character from Disney...no wait, the animatronic characters have smoother conversations...., the racing itself is an exercise in tedium....there is really not much to recommend in this game, unless you have a mad passion to wait for the race screen to load, then push the x button at the right time.
OK, ok, you have to line up your car as well, but that has all the excitement of parallel parking....again and again and.....

So, unless you see this for under $10, I'd say try any of the Need For Speed series for a more exciting version of drag racing. This one is about as dull as watching paint dry.
