Really decent...

User Rating: 7.9 | NHL 2K7 PS2
The most recent installment in the NHL 2K series has plenty to offer, but nothing really new. Sure its a solid, exciting, really decent game of hockey with plenty of unlockables and minigames, but aren't all of the 2K games? So it really lives or dies on the little things. NHL 2K7 has dozens of little problems, that in and of themselves aren't a problem, but put together they really take away from a game. For starters, when creating a goalie, there are two sticks, both of which suck. And another thing, the anouncers never use names in profiles. Sure its not a REAL problem, but all the uses of "this guy" makes the game developers sound lazy, unlike the competition in the EA Sports NHL, which sounds much more fluent and real. But most of the problems lie with the players themselves. Brendan Shanahan has a 75 in leadership. Haven't you ever heard that good leaders are the Brendan Shanahans and Gary Roberts in the dressing room? I HAVE! Mike Peca is among the elite defensive forwards, and he has like an 80 or something in defense. Whats up with that? And seriously, they made Roberto Luongo as white as sour cream! Not to be racist or anything but SHEESH! Of course it is a competitor, as you can edit players anytime, and compared to the EA Sports series, it has deeper player creation, more updated rosters, better graphics, and more minigames. So as you can see, I have very mixed reactions.
