NHL 2003 isn't a bad game, it's just that there are better versions. The only thing that 2003 has over 2004 or 2005 is that it has an amazing soundtrack (the best soundtrack in any game I have ever played). It's gameplay gets old (there is way too much scoring) and it's dynasty mode is AWFUL (it's random if a free agent willjoin your team or not and sometimes your star players leave because of this), but it's fun to play every once in a while just because you can run up the score big time (I mean 30-50 goal games). If you can get on the cheap and want an arcadey game, then pick it up.
