A 3D hockey game. What do we have. A great soundtrack. Great graphics. And good gameplay to boot!

EA of course is the pribe of sports games that are out today, and without a doubt,NHL 2002 takes that level of sporty goodness and turns it inside-out. To start I would just like to say one thing. The soundtrack is great. Period. Well with that little squabble over with let's get to the game. In NHL 2002 EA provides you with about 6 different interactive modes to work with. Not including the options. The choices you get are Play Now, where you play a simple exhibition game of hockey between two teams, Season, Playoffs, Tournament, Shootout, and the NHL Cards Mode. In season mode you pick your favorite team and you get to control them for a whole season, as you try to win the big cup, The Stanly Cup. There is not much detail here except you play the game through and through. Playoffs, Tournament and Shootout are self-explanatory by names. NHL cards mode is a mode where you get to earn points to use in the card book to unlock NHL Cards. There are a total of 189 cards to collect and you only get 2000 points to start off with. Each pack of 10 cards cost 2000 points. An example of how to earn points is on level 1 you have to score a goal. If you do that you will get 200 points and so on. You can unlock celebrations for your players such as the Windmill and MileStone, and there are lots of really wacky ones you can get! I will not give away anymore about celebrations. You can also earn Easter Eggs which will give you lots off cool additions such as big heads on your players to a giant stadium. When you get into a game there are lots of detailed features such as Big hitters, Hero's, snipers, and big shooters. These are the players you want to look for in a game. You get a lot of new little things that do not make much of a difference but all in all they help. Some of those things are a hit cam which shows the player being hit 3 times if you hit a player just right, Breakaway cam, which turns the screen blue and puts everything except you in slow motion so you can make a move, and the Save cam which shows all the awsome saves you make as a goalie. The graphics in the game are ok but they could use some improvement. Some of the things that got my button where when the players uniforms you shack uncontrollably. Another new feature to the game is the Create-a-face feature. You can put yourself into the game with all the options which kinda make you think of the sims. Well that just about breaks things down on NHL 2002 and it's sleek gameplay but I have to say, for the price of it now, it is worth it to check it out Benoit Parent AkA Blazin_PGX
