Having played NHL 11 for a long time it did take some time to get used to the new skating system. It definitely player attributes such as speed, agility and acceleration. It even effects who I have on the ice at what time. Some of your bigger, slower defense can really get burned. Back checking is huge. Feels more like hockey you really have to think about where you are on the ice. I would say the goalies are better and the CPU is a bit more reasonable. At least when I manage to score a goal the opponent does not come back and score on their next three shots as in NHL 11. Overall, I think EA did a great job with the game. It is a solid hockey sim and less of an arcade style game. I can't comment on Xbox Live because I don't play online. I do wish EA would incorporate the create-a-team feature that was in NCAA 11 (where you can upload your own logo). I don't buy games every year so I am glad that this is a great game and will last a long time.
