Great hockey game with a few flaws

So I have been a fan of the series since way back in the day when the controls were D-pad to move, B to pass, A to shoot. The controls in this version are waaaayy more advanced than that. What's worth noting is that the game doesn't come with an actually physical manual. It instead is all buried in the menu screens which, while a decent idea, really lacks as it A) doesn't cover everything and B) has zero assistance for those who are new or (like me) haven't played a game in the series for a couple of years. Case in point "Vision control" and "call for pass". Vision control is listed as a control but nowhere does it tell you what it does so it is kind of worthless. Call for pass is not listed in the menus at all. In fact, unless you scroll through a series of pre-game screens to the controls demonstration you'll never find it. This causes just a little bit of frustration since, in Be a Pro mode, the majority of the time your teammates WON'T pass you the puck. Another glaring flaw is there are some rare moments when the opposing CPU team suddenly becomes invincible. No matter what button you press or how many guys you pile on the puck carrier they will steamroll right through your entire team, goalie and all, and score as if nobody is there. And they will do it repeatedly. Other than these issues the game really is a blast to play, especially the Be a Pro mode. Here you create a Center, Winger, D-man or goalie and join a team as a rookie. You can choose to go directly into the NHL or spend a season in the CHL honing some of your skills. The interesting part of this mode of play is that you only get to control two things: 1) your team's defensive strategy and 2) your Pro. You have no control over line changes, ice time, or any other aspect of your team. Sounds intimidating but trust me it really is a fun and unique way to play a hockey sim. I have not yet tried the online content yet (not really into playing with all the cheaters that are out there in any online game). This game is definitely worth the time and money if you are a hockey fan.
