This is my review for NHL09 on the XBOX360. I already gave the PC version 4 !!! - Find out why!?
I have already written a short review on the PC version (I gave it 4,) and now I need to let people know... There is a huge!!!! - Massive!!! difference.
The differences, are in fact too many to mention here, but to me, one of the key ones is how the new "Be a Pro" mode is implemented.
(( - Side note : I've since found out that FIFA09 suffers from the same, but to a lesser degree.))
Some people disagree, but I like games that are a realistic portrail of their real-world counterpart, and so I really enjoy the be a pro mode including things like time spent on the bench between shifts. Sadly not available in the PC version.
For some reason the camera too isn't the same and makes the whole thing quite hard compared to the XBOX360 version.
I have a pretty top of the line spec PC, and although I didn't have any real graphics issues, the game looked quite a few years old, even with everything at full.
I am used to multiple platform releases, and having a decent PC, I tend to buy the PC version if it's a game where things like graphics are dominant. (I buy games for XBOX360 mainly due to the multilayer being so much easier.)
Over all, NHL09 for the XBOX360 is a very solid game, enjoyable to play, and quite absorbing. Not without a few minor gripes about what could have made it better.
Over-all I give NHL09 a score of 8 because of the implementation of the Be a Pro mode and the polish that the XBOX360 version seems to have got that the PC version didn't.
