i was pleasantly surprised whe I played the demo that this is one fluid game the controls are good but just the fact that you can set up plays in the zone, work the points and all that makes for a great and engrossing game. I like the shot stick from last year but not much else. This year the animations look fantastic especially little touches like when their heads turn and their bodies lean when turning and cutting. I got to say I have both NHL 2k8 and NHL 08 and 2k8 plays a good enough hockey game especially after you learn the controls but I think I find myself going back to 08 more this time around. This may very well be one of the better NHL's in series from EA
