Developer: Midway
Game Genre: Sports/Football

Gameplay
Whereas NFL Blitz 2000 received a 1, NFL Blitz 2001 proves that somebody at Midway has an IQ higher than 10. Everybody knows that the GBC has many limitations, but Midway has not found their way around them yet.

The usual sports modes come with NFL Blitz 2001. Season, Arcade, etc.

More will be explained in the improvements section.

Graphics
Very terrible. Little tiny players, little tiny football, big giant pixilated cut screens. The only good graphic in the whole thing is the NFL Blitz logo on the main screen.

Improvements
Previous Games: NFL Blitz NFL Blitz 2000

Well done, Midway, you didn’t suck this year. The game actually has a couple good qualities. Now there’s sound that doesn’t sound like a squirrel being run over by a steamroller. It’s now more possible to hike the ball and not get sacked in half a second or less. It’s also possible to defend. Interceptions, tackles, they’re all possible now!

Durability
Nobody in their right mind would play this game for longer than a couple days.

And if you are somebody who played this game longer, I apologize for the comment, I’m sure you are completely sane.

Sound:
This was one of the first Gameboy Color games to ever have speaking sound. At the main screen you hear “Midway presents NFL Blitz” and in the game there’s an announcer for all the downs and “interception” and “fumble” and the like.

Controls: The directional pad moves, A hikes the ball and throws to a receiver. B Tackles…the usual controls for a low-quality sports game.

Difficulty: Normal
Way to go Midway, it’s not impossible this year!
