Zumba Fitness sells 3 million
Majesco announces new worldwide sales milestone for 2010's exer-game; sequel due out this November.
In June, Majesco announced its latest quarterly earnings, saying that sales of Zumba Fitness helped nearly triple the publisher's sales for the period and noting that the game had sold 2 million copies worldwide. Now, the publisher has announced that another million gamers have decided to start exercising with the game.
Sales of 2010's exercise game, which is based on the Zumba fitness program, have now reached 3 million units worldwide, Majesco today announced. The publisher did not break down the sales of the game across the Wii, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 iterations.
Majesco isn't done with the Zumba Fitness franchise. A sequel--Zumba Fitness 2--is due out on the Wii this November. Another iteration for an unnamed platform will arrive in "early 2012."
As for the upcoming game, Zumba Fitness 2 will include 30 new dance tracks from Pitbull, Nicole Scherzinger, Yolanda Be Cool & DCup, and others. It will have players exercising to 20 different international dance styles alongside Zumba creator Beto as well as celebrity instructors Tanya Beardsley and Gina Grant.
In Zumba Fitness 2, gamers can customize their instruction, tailoring the routine set to their liking. Further, the game sports a new Progress mode that lets players track the number of calories they've burned.
