Nintendo's first-party studio currently recruiting programmers and artists for upcoming title.
A number of developers are keen to work their magic on Nintendo's upcoming console, so it should not come as a shock that a first-party developer for the company would be next in line to announce its contribution. Monolith Soft, who recently created Xenoblade Chronicles and Super Robot Taisen OG Saga: Endless Frontier, is currently in the middle of creating a game for the Wii U, the new system that was announced at the 2011 Electronic Entertainment Expo.
The company recently put up new positions on its recruitment page, according to a translation done by Siliconera. The page itself states that the company is looking for an effects designer to create battle effects in the upcoming game. Other positions include a motion designer for events and battle scenes, as well as an experienced 2D designer who can draw mecha using Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and Corel Painter.
Monolith Soft's recent title, Xenoblade Chronicles, will be available for the Wii later this year. For more on the game, check out, GameSpot's latest preview..
Japan get all the hardcore games, assuming that everyone in Western countries would rather just play recycled army games. Lets hope they don't make that ignorant mistake again :I
-crosses fingers- Baten Kaitos 3... Baten Kaitos 3...Baten Kaitos 3... Baten Kaitos 3...Baten Kaitos 3... Baten Kaitos 3...
I'm not even going to bother getting excited. There are so many great looking games for the Wii that aren't seeing the light of day here in the US that I'm done with Nintendo now.
@SaltyMeatballs I'm aware of how the Wii's region system works. I'm not saying that Nintendo gets extra "because it's an import." I'm saying that in this particular case, as stated by @Ardain, Nintendo will get sales from a system + a game, rather than just the game. If even a fraction of potential North American Xenoblade customers is considering this, it's no wonder that Nintendo will allow NoA to sit on its hind quarters (since the profit is covered elsewhere). I disowned Ninty's wack region system back when Tatsunoko vs. Capcom seemed un-localizable for copyright reasons. So NoE will get my game sale, but certainly not a console sale on top.
If you guys want Xenoblade in North America, join Operation Rainfall by preordering Monando (Xenoblade) on Amazon. It's currently the number one best selling game on the site. Make sure to tweet/write to Nintendo when you do so. They're expected to make an announcement about it sometime today...
@WintersMidnight, whoa man. Chill out. Two things: yes, you are right that the publishers handle localization and distribution. Also, I would say that someone who doesn't know that is most certainly not an 'idiot' or a 'moron'. That's very specific information, to be honest that most people don't really need or care to know. Also, for the record, it is "You're that stupid." You can call someone stupid if you want; it defeats the purpose if you misuse one of the most common words in the english language.
Nintendo seem to banking a lot on the success of this console. There seem to be quite a few games in the works. That's not a bad thing at all! The more developers on board the better. I just hope they don't over-do themselves to be met with slow sales.. Can't help but worry.
@Lamesy I don't think that's how it works. Wii isn't region free, people have to mod their Wii's to play import games, I am sure Nintendo doesn't want that and they don't make more money from import, you pay to whoever imports not extra to Nintendo. Nintendo of America are just being lazy asses. I am pleasantly surprised EU is getting good treatment whereas I'm shocked the biggest gaming market is being left out.
@Ardain "Which I plan to buy a EUR wii and import the game. No joke this is the Truth." And enablers like you are the reason Ninty doesn't even consider localizing. You've just promised to reward them with quadruple the profit in exchange for sitting on their butts and doing nothing. If you lack the willpower to stand by your principles, please just DON'T POST, bec. your statement only further hurts everyone's chance of localization.
Do you want either Xenoblade, The Last Story and/or Pandora's Tower to come to America? Read this: http://gonintendo.com/viewstory.php?id=161695 http://gonintendo.com/viewstory.php?id=161730 http://www.destructoid.com/letter-writing-campaign-for-last-story-pandora-s-tower-204505.phtml
Great, except Xenoblade still is only in Japan... I'll import if I have to but that's even more money, please just world wide release it already. BEFORE YOU GET TO WORK ON ANOTHER GAME. Seriously when will companies learn it's not smart to be in the middle of a huge piece of business, stop and say I want to do something else for a long period of time?
Too bad were not getting Xenoblade. Nintendo stated at E3 that they don't have any plans to release it stateside. Which I plan to buy a EUR wii and import the game. No joke this is the Truth.
please Nintendo import xenoblade, the last story and pandora towers to the us because I don't want to be Zelda Skyward Sword the only game I need to dust my Wii.
Its nice to hear that a US release for Xenoblade is still in the works. To be honest when Nintendo announced the Wii U at E3 I was worried The Last Story, Pandoras Tower, and Xenoblade would be released on Wii U instead. Hoping all three will receive a North American release.
@WllDan7 Oh :P Obviously I've never played the game before. Still there has been lots of news of developers taking interest in the Wii U
meh who cares it wont likely come out here anyway. it might get an eu localization if they are super lucky other than that though were screwed. well at least we can play xenoblade in english after fricken importing it
Good for Japan I guess because we all know Reggie Kong will toss this aside in NA like Soma Bringer and Xenoblade.
Great news! Here's hoping for a NA release as well. Congrats to Europe, by the way. Lucky buggers. :) **Added**For the Xenoblade release, that is.**Added**
What about bring Xenoblade to NA first!!? god damn you Nintendo what are you waitting for? to localize it here is it too hard to do it :(
I hope Xenoblade comes to NA. Can't wait to see this new title. Hope it comes to NA. Wonder if it's Baten Kaitos?
