XCOM to land in 2011, Mafia II tops 2K E3 lineup

mafia 2 is my best must-buy game after god of war 3

I think 2K at Marin with the XCOM FPS, you should be able to sell if off planet to another spacealien species that are not human. Good Luck with that, because you won't be selling it to me, and I am human.

We need XCom as an FPS why? What a craptastic idea. If they want to take a Mass Effect approach to the XCom idea that might be acceptable but I can see the six hour campaign with 5 multiplayer maps followed by $10 DLC. But I highly doubt we are going to get the solid squad based tactics and character development that made XCom so much fun. Nothing as satisfying as shooting down a UFO in XCom and then picking up dead aliens all over the battlefield or as frustrating as carefully working your squad around a map and then getting one or two soldiers turned into slobbering aliens because the little brain suckers were hiding in the shadows.

Can't wait for mafia 2. Godfather 2 was such a horrible game!

An X-Com FPS - who's interested in THAT?! It might have X-Com on the title, but that's about it! An FPS is an FPS is an FPS.....

I just watched the XCOM trailer on another site. It looks like a prequel set in the 1950's.

Where are the Garret brothers when we need them? We almost had Dreamland Chronicles but squabbles with the publisher caused its demise. I'm taking a wait and see attitude on XCOM before passing judgement.

come on, take-two and 2k marin, spend your time and money resources on something else. don't make xcom a fps, keep it a strategy game instead. strategy xcom = 100% buy for me fps xcom = 0% buy

XCOM FPS? I'll wait for them to give XCOM to Firaxis and bring back the turn-based strategy game. There's enough FPS's already to go around. I'll keep playing XCOM 1 via emulators and XCOM Apocalypse until then. And Civilization 5, too.

Great....their innovation to the Xcom franchise is to turn it into a first person shooter. Wow how totally innovative this just hasnt been before.

no FPS man, i just want to play X-COM but with some better graphics, and MAYBE some more features in the game (but not too many: look at the other UFO games....).

My first thought on X-COM being rebooted was "How can you reboot perfection?" But I've got to realize I think it'll be a great game. It's almost certain to end up being X-COM with a Bioshock style. The same way Fallout 3 was Fallout with an Oblivion style...and it worked. I just hope 2K does the smart thing and orchestrates X-COM 1 & 2 HD remixes for XBLA and PSN. Because let's face it, of all the games getting the "HD remix" treatment, those are two gargantuan yet obscure classics that truly deserve it more than anything.

Sorry 2K Games, but if you turn X-COM into a FPS and kill it for me, I will be forced to boycott every game you make from now to the end of time! Why mess with something that was already perfect! :S

I'm gonna have to boo the news on XCom. I have never been the type to get off into strategy-type games, but X-Com: UFO Defense was the exception. I loved it, and also Terror from the Deep. Now they want to make it into an FPS. Don't we have ENOUGH FPS's already??? I will take a wait and see approach with this one, but the excitement I had when I heard a new XCom game was in the works is now gone. That's all I can say.

I must admit when i first heard that xcom was being rebooted as a FPS i was very skeptical... but the more i read about it the more interesting it becomes. Apparently it does come with base building (one base) and all of the research and manufacturing from the originals as well as base defense and attack... but all controlled from FPS perspective... This should be awesome if the get the formula right... looking forward to trying it!! :)

For all those boohooing XCOM why don't you wait and see what this company does I mean come on they did make System Shock 1 and 2 and also Bioshock.

If this new XCOM game doesnt follow the original game's formula, it will be an automatic fail.

When the racing game fad hits, we'll have XCOM Racing. Then when we have a fighting game fad again like the 90's, we'll have... Ethereal vs. XCOM Agent Charles Smith, FIGHT!!! Oh that's right, we're gonna have motion control sports on 360 and PS3 soon... XCOM Sports!

X-Com FPS... how did they ever secured funding to produce it? No, seriously. Somebody at 2k Marin actually had to balls to pitch that idea and then somebody at Take-Two actually said: "Wow guys, great idea. Let's do it!"?????????

I'm not too keen on an FPS X-com game, but I hope it at least keeps the research/manufacturing/homebase elements. If it's strictly run & gun vs aliens then I'll pass.

I'm really looking forward to mafia 2, I was a big fan of the first one, and loved the by the book drive, where just because your on a mission doesnt mean you have to throw the street rules out, also kinda looking forward to max payne 3 although i like the normal look not some beefed up dude. as for xcom, never got into te series but may try it out.

@blackace wow there Rockstar fanboy. First GTA V, IF its even in the making right now, will not be announced at E3. LA Noir has been pushed back and will not be in the E3 because another project has topped the list. Whether thats Max Payne 3 (which has gotten pushed back as well) or a secret project. Which may very well be GTA V.

Wish it was coming to PS3 as well. I don't get a lot of PC time these days, have to fight my kids for time. At least with the PS3 I can hide in the basement and play.

Among these, Civ V is going to get the most chatter once it's demoed. I can't wait for that game :)
