New wares for Microsoft's online platform include latest Commander Shepard pack; XBLA adds Rush 'N Attack, Islands of Wakfu, Seisou Kouki Strania tomorrow; Games on Demand welcomes Split/Second and HAWX 2.
Leading the charge this week is the Arrival (560 MS points, or $7) content for BioWare's lauded Mass Effect 2. Arrival sees Commander Shepard investigating clues to an impending Reaper invasion on the edge of the galaxy. The downloadable content will also see the return of actor Lance Henriksen (Aliens, Stone Cold) lending his voice to Admiral Hackett.
Being released tomorrow on the Xbox Live Arcade will be three new titles, the first of which is Rush 'N Attack Ex Patriot (800 MS points, or $10). In the game, players will control a lone soldier sent into Russia to find a missing ally, equipped with nothing more than a knife. As in the original, different weapons can be picked up from dispatched enemies, but the game will also include a stealth mechanic to mix up the old formula.
The other two games pegged to debut tomorrow are Ankama's genre-blending fantasy game Islands of Wakfu (800 MS points, or $10) and G.Rev's latest top-down shoot-'em-up Seisou Kouki Strania (800 MS points, or $10).
Switching to the Games on Demand hub, Microsoft added three new games to the download spot today, the first of which is Disney's racer Split/Second ($30). The other two new full-game downloads out now are CSI: Deadly Intent ($40) and Tom Clancy's HAWX 2 ($30).
@DP1130 That's exactly what I've been thinking. I didn't buy any of the dlc but I might pick up this last one. But seriously not counting Ocarina on the 3ds there is... Mass Effect 3, Skyrim, Arkham City, Gears of War 3. This will be the best year of gaming for me ever. Unless they delay Skyrim...lol!
I played threw both 1 and 2 but haven't played any of the DLC's. With 3 on the way, I think I may dl and play them all. I want the best M3 experience possible. Right after I finish Dawn of War 2 Retro. Man, Space Marine, Skyrim, Batman Ark. City, M3...For the first time in a loong time, I have felt overwelmed with releases. What a sweet feeling!!
@Dynamo11 Yeah I felt kinda the same. The plot was pretty good, but a few holes and it could/should have been longer. But it very nicely sets up and brings us towards ME3.
@method115 Yeah, no more DLC before ME3 now. It's one the Cereberus news feed about how the dfeed will only be active for three weeks this year, a week before a DLC and two weeks before ME3 comes out
Was a pretty lame DLC imo. Seemed very rushed and not really fleshed out, I don't think I got my money's worth. The gameplay was good though and anything Mass Effect is awesome!
@Timmy_Gwar I spent almost 50 hours on my one playthrough of ME2, and I bought it used for about $25. So, no, $5-7 for 2 hours of DLC is ridiculous. They should be giving this stuff out for free, or releasing it with the game.
@jarofdirt882 This is the last DLC? Guess the GOTY edition should be coming out sometime soon. I'll definitely be getting that eventually.
hmm, well shadow broker was a huuge pain in the arse on insanity, so im gunna finish my run then get this dlc, since 4 this one ur flying solo most of the dlc.
erm, when does it come out for PS3? we got the game update for the trophies but the DLC is not in the store yet
ME 2: Arrival was shorter than I expected, 400 points instead of 560 would have justified the content it gave but it's still a good piece of content.
Bought it completed it, it was short but still worth it in the end :) glad that wait turned out good at least for me other people will have to see for themselves.
I was not expecting much, but it was not too bad. All it really did was make me want Mass Effect 3 more.
I want to remind everyone that this is a DLC, for $7. Mind you, I would like a longer add on but for $7 it is sufficient. I'm sure that if you broke up the price of ME2 by hours played it would work out to around $5-$7 every two hours. Plus, I personally want Bioware focusing on ME3 anyways.
Though I did like Shadow Broker better (though it was $3 more expensive), Arrival is pretty good and made me even more stoked for ME3.
I heard Arrival's a little on the short side. I'm downloading it now though, and I'm hoping for the best.
