@wexorian: "Microsoft should add Reset achivement function for players who want to replay some games )" Sooo... You can't play the games anymore, because you already have the achievements? What, does your XBox kick the game disc back out and say, "You can't play this game anymore. Please insert a game you haven't completed yet. (Press "A" after changing the disc)"? Now, if resetting your achievements would remove the game from your Achievement list, I'd be all over that. There are some games I tried out, didn't like, and never played again, that I would like to remove because they clutter up the list. And then there's "PlayOnline," which got added when I attempted to play Final Fantasy XIII (or maybe it was XIII-2), then found out I couldn't play it, because it required a hard drive to install the game to (at the time my Arcade 360 had no hard drive). Meanwhile PlayOnline shows up on every list of games I've played and I NEVER EVEN GOT TO PLAY IT ONCE.
Microsoft recommending those who have lost emblems, Gamerscore to sign out and back in again, or re-download their profiles.
Xbox 360 players have been accruing achievements and Gamerscores since the system launched more than six years ago, but some of those tallies are being mistakenly reset today.
Microsoft's official Xbox Support Twitter page has been replying to dozens of user complaints about having their achievements wiped out and their Gamerscores reset. Some users reported it happening on startup, while others said they lost their information after downloading a game update or earning a new achievement.
The Xbox Support Twitter page has suggested two remedies to the situation so far, but hasn't said they should work in every case. First, affected users are advised to sign out of their Xbox Live profile and sign back in. If that doesn't work, they are being asked to re-download their Xbox Live profiles. There is also an ongoing thread on the Xbox Live support forums for users to report continuing issues.
i can make complete sentences fine...thank you! BUT MY QUESTION IS TO YOU...can your mother keep her mouth closed long enough for all the truck drivers get their deliveries on time!!!!!!!!!just a thought...lol
wow I just read all these comments and this article have nothing to do with one another.......the article...a bug is infecting the achievements making them disappear......the comments.....you all are achievement whores and should be ashamed of yourselves......wtf? was this article put out to make the xbox'ers fight amongst themselves???? I guess I will never understand people..........
@ BimboShaggins that's it?..that's your comeback?..hahaha....OWNED..nice try though..and nice try on the indirect apology bout being offensive..keep it comin!! hahaha..one day, you'll get me :)
@BimboShaggins... That's completely out of line what you said to crazimax. What's wrong with you?!! There should be a law against children using the internet without parental supervision. You know if you said that to someone in person, you'd be swallowing your teeth. I guess special ed let out early today.
@BimboShaggins hahaha..wow..LMFAO..you are a kid..just prove my point when you have nothing intelligent to say..i feel sorry for your parents dude..you can act like a douche all you want on the internet..it jjust makes you look stupid..don't be mad that this is not the response that you're looking for..with your psychological state, you need some psychiatric help..good luck in life buddy..you're gonna need it...LMFAO..hahaha..go ahead and make a reply..i owned you now!!! hahaha
@OortCloud33 look at what I said. If you only play to get achievements, then that is sad. Games are meant to be fun and if you are going to be upset because some little icon didn't show or because it isn't showing the world what you did then its sad.
To the last comment, mister negativity... Richwahtever6907 the story was posted when... OH I see right there at the top, Mar 13, 2012 8:50 am . Sounds point on to me, Good job Gamespot, we all don't come here just to banter you!
You do realize this was fixed like 1 hour after it happened right that was 24hours ago lol good job slowspot.
Despite of still having my battlefield 3 saved games on hard drive , when i try to continue the campaign on hard difficulty , comes a message that the file is damaged , so i'm not able to finish it.
It's a simple synchronisation failure. Since achievements can be only added hopefully there is no delete operation in place. The achievement should all still be in the servers. Once the sync will be fixed they will show up again.
Luckily, I'm currently preoccupied by Jak Collection and Twisted Metal. I hope this gets fixed soon. Some of those were hard to get.
@Gordopequeno133 There was also many people who only gave their credit card info through xbox live's shopping deal and got their stuff stolen. Quite a few had nothing to do with phishing scams. @Warlord_Irochi That wasn't the point. The person who commented made a stupid statement. Or at least the statement really wasn't needed.
Well, its not as if you get anything from having achievements, other than some lame bragging rights, is there?
What's the big deal? You don't really lose them, it just fails to update your stat maknig you seemingly lose all past progress. Delete. Re-download. DONE. I'm a PC/PS3 fan if anything and i'm notall over this... Funny.
@WolfGrey uhh... they had their credit card info stolen because people gave their account info to hackers, they couldn't hack XBL itself, people just gave away their account information through a phising scam and the hackers used that to hack into their bank accounts. It was no where near MS's fault and no one can really prevent phising scams and phising scams exist everywhere on the internet, especially on PSN as well.
@JoshCammell How about having your credit card, personal info, and possibly bank information being sold online? Sound better? Wait it gets better.Microsoft told the people it happened to it was their fault. At least Sony not only fixed it after getting hacked, they made it better, gave away free games, and helped ps plus members get months free. Oh and we normal members got ps plus for free for a month just in time to join the Uncharted 3 beta early.
Since this so called "bug" has or is occuring I have put my Gears of War 3 copy on the shelf. It's hard enough working and working to achieve certain goals or tasks just to have them wiped out by a problem with progaming or a bug in the system. Hopefully the problem can be solved and everything back to normal...
XBL - Multitude of minor, easily fixable but frequently occuring bugs PSN - Bugs rare but when they occur, are major and not simple Not sure which I'd prefer.
@jayd02 Look, if getting lots of achievements is sad, then just playing games in general is, because when you look at it in the way you are, they are both pointless.
@bizuit "I wish we had the option to disable achievements " ummm you do. its called reading a book! no joking aside you dont have to use your profile. or you could even just ingore them. They pop up for what? 3 sec at a time. Pretty easy to ingore in the heat of a game. And I dont think anyone is FORCING you to look at your list of achievements, It take 2 to 4 button clicks to even get to that menu depending on where how you choose to access and look at your list.
My gamertag was completely fine when I logged on earlier today. I'd rather have this, which can be fixed in less than 5 minutes; than a complete outage that lasts for 3 months. :)
I have 85,000 gamerscore on xbox alone. just saying... I also have a wife, a great job, I drive an awesome car and ride a motorcycle and speak two languages and travel all the time. I even read books for FUN!!! Just throwing that all out there to show that plenty of people can be totally dedicated to gaming, but live and enjoy a full insane amazing life away from the TV. Gaming just happens to be my #1 hobby.
@OortCloud33 You can call me a nerd for making something of myself and focusing on something that really matters kid. What I'm studying today will lead me to writing the music you listen to when you play my games. I'm criticizing the fact that people are getting so upset over nothing. People can play them how ever for whatever but does that take away from the fact that it is sad? Not at all. I'm not making fun of people who get achievements when playing games, I'm making fun of the people who only play games just to get achievements, get games just to get achievements. What happened to days when playing a game was just fun and you played just to play? Long gone I guess.
@Philly1UPer the reason i change it to "my opinion" is because i realize how it DOES sounded like i was bragging..and i realize that i don't have a degree yet, so that's why i clarify it's just an opinion, base on what i learn so far..and you gotta understand i got to clarify my background first, otherwise i would get reply comments like "you don't know s***"..and in fact, i was really hoping a REAL psychologist would read my comment and tell me if i'm wrong or whatevers
@crazimax "To Philly1UPer, im not bragging man. I'm just basically sharing my opinion and maybe you thought I was bragging because my opinion probably sounded like I was trying to talk like I have a Phd in psych" You actually kinda were....I mean. "crazimax Posted Mar 13, 2012 7:14 pm GMT (hide) First of all, I'm a psych major." Sounds like bragging to me, even then, I'm going to assume you are nowhere near a psych major, since you kinda said you were a major in pysch, then changed it to "my opinion probably sounded like I was trying to talk like I have a Phd in psych"
With 19 completed games and being a major achievement hound I will be quite pissed if my tag messes up.
@BimboShaggins @QOSMSTR @Philly1UPer Wow guys. If i offended anyone, my bad. My intentions were to defend both sides of the argument. I, myself has a PSN level of 15, but only bout 14000 on gamertag. I have more time to game now since I don't even go out anymore cause I gotta take care of my mom who can't physically take care of herself. She has parkinson and arthritus. And since my dad past away over 2 yrs ago, I barely go out. Nothing wrong with having high achievement points. I'm a pharmacy tech and i'm going back to school just get a degree in psych. For the guy who claim that i'm still in high school, STFU cause you must be a kid. To Philly1UPer, im not bragging man. I'm just basically sharing my opinion and maybe you thought I was bragging because my opinion probably sounded like I was trying to talk like I have a Phd in psych. And to QOSMSTR, i totally understand why you would be upset. Maybe it's because you're like me? Maybe you have a career and lots of other accomplishment in your life, but you still have a ridiculous amount of achievements and trophies. If that's the case, 1000+ points for you dude. The whole point of my rant was to share my opinion on why people feel the need to "level up" whether it be achievements or trophies. THE ONLY PEOPLE THAT SHOULD BE MAD AT MY OPINION ARE THE PEOPLE THAT RATHER SMOKE WEED AND GET DRUNK TO PLAY GAMES ALL DAY AND DON'T EVEN GO TO WORK OR SCHOOL. THE PEOPLE THAT LIVE ON THEIR PARENTS MONEY AND BASEMENT.
I have since moved on from 360 to PS3 and in my 360 career I accumulated over 60,000... I would be livid if this happened to me!! Hopefully the issue will be resolved soon!
