If only microsoft came out with something like a Elite RPG Bundle. You get the console with Mass Effect and Obilivion : GOTY edition. Instant purchase for me there.
Microsoft officially confirms rumored $299 Pure/Lego Batman pack-in, reveals $60 black controller pack with Geometry Wars 2, Lumines, Bomberman, and Ms. Pac-Man.
One week after it didn't comment on rumor and speculation about an Xbox 360 Elite Holiday bundle, Microsoft has officially announced one. As predicted, the $300 package will include the console setup and Warner Bros.' superhero adventure Lego Batman and Pure from Disney Interactive Studios' Black Rock Studio, formerly Climax Racing.
The bundle announcement comes one week before the current incentive to buy the Xbox 360 Elite ends. Through Monday, October 5, the company is offering a $50 rebate on the wired, DVD-media-based 120GB console, a month after it dropped its price from $400 to $300. The rebate came a month after Sony introduced the wireless, Blu-ray-playing 120GB PlayStation 3 Slim at $300, and--for a brief time--matched the now-$199 Wii's then-$250 price point.
In addition to the Elite holiday bundle, Microsoft also revealed a new retail configuration for the stand-alone Xbox 360 controller. The $60 package will include a black controller with three Xbox Live Arcade games--Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved 2, Lumines LIVE!, Bomberman LIVE!--and a token for Ms. Pac-Man. By itself, the Xbox 360 controller costs $50 and comes in black, white, and several other colors, including a black-and-red GameStop-exclusive controller, due out October 15.
So Microsoft is packing games in with controllers while Nintendo is packing controllers in with games. How ironic.
I'm get me Elite today (my 4th one!) but it comes with Halo 3 ODST and Quantum of Solace. Last week the deal was Halo 3: ODST and CoD:WaW but they sold out in hours! Lego Batman and Pure aren't the best games around (but still fun), must have tonnes of stock they need to move :-(.
What exactly does "a token for Ms. Pac-Man" mean? I'm interested in the controller bundle and Ms. Pac-Man is the only game there that I already own.
AHH! I just bought 2 new black controllers from amazon yesterday, to complete my set of 4! Oh well, I only had to pay $37.49 each, so I guess I kinda made out here.
The controller packin is fine. The Batman and Pure bundle should have been for the Arcade. This is only the beginning of course as the Halo3 / Halo ODST bundle will be announced before the holidays. Don't forget the MW2 bundle as well. So people should just for those bundles, instead of wasting their time with this one.
I really love new controllers, I get a new one every 6 months for the 360. They REALLY need to lower the price of the HDD. I have 120gb and it's great but some of my friends/family have 20gb HDDs and they are FULL, no breathing room at all, 10mb of free space stuff.
Odd choices... maybe those two games should have been packed in with the $199 arcade? I know they are trying to push titles that are slowing on movement, but... ?
i'll buy it(the controller) as long as they offer it in wired(10 ft of cord>>>>>>>>>>>>>batteries) in addition to wireless.
I'm in New Zealand - and I just picked up the Elite with Halo 3:ODST and Wolfenstein - plus it had the HDMI cable in it - so I'm pretty happy (especially with the games and cable)
Sounds like a great deal. I will probably buy the controller bundle since I need one anyways and with it coming with free XBLA games its the perfect time to buy.
Microsoft holiday bundles are always awesome. Its just why Ms. Pac-man instead of Pac-man Championship edition in the controller bundle?
@NuKkU Yep. Again, looking forward to a PS3 version of the controller bundle. It would make the PS3 a lot more attractive for families, I think, especially if dad is the gamer but wants stuff to play with the kids, wife, etc.
Not the greatest Xbox360 console bundle(could've been better, aka a Mass Effect, or Bioshock console bundle),but still two free family-friendly games...
@IrishBulldog93 I live in Canada and finding the damned thing is easier said than done. EB Games, Future Shop and Best Buy don't have it. I'll do as you said and ask EB Games if they can order some.
@lamprey263, i bought a few bundles. one being the xboxlive messenger kit. i took back pgr4 and the messenger controller and got 70. so i got a free head set and a free year of xboxlive :)... then i got a elite beat agents bundle that came with game and case with extra pens last holiday for 11 bucks . i just returned the game and got 31 bucks store credit. and the live messenger pack i bought was from wal-mart .com not the local wal-mart i returned it to. and it still scanned
@monson21502 - Actually, I believe bundled games come with a special UPC barcode and label that says it's from a bundle and not for individual sale, that way people can't sell them individually or return them... then again, if Wal-Mart will still accept them, that's pretty dumb of them.
make sure you buy it at wal-mart. that way . u can return the games for store credit. think you will get 50 bucks. maybe 60 if pure is 39.99 on the shelf. pretty sure lego batman is 19.99. all you have to do is return them and say you already have them.
Right now up at future shop in Canada you can get the 360 elete above with halo three and battlefeild battlefront for that price. better games than this bundle.
no for me on the controller bundle, first off I already have two of the three games it comes with, plus I'm still a big fan of wired controllers, but this is a decent bundle for those needing another controller and looking for some good XBLA games to play, though they could have picked some better ones for sure
At least the controller comes with games that are actually worth while. The holiday bundle for this year is pretty meh.
Whats up with all the whining. Before they were just offering the Elite for 299 and now you get 2 free games with it. If you hate them just go and sell them, you'll make enough to buy a game of your choice.
Pure and lego batman are ok but not the kind of games for me. They should make a package with Mass Effect and other good 360 exclusives.
I would really like to see these game/controller bundles be a standard, year-round offering. This for the 360, the Wii Play/Wii-mote, and something from Sony. That would be wonderful. I think the bundles reflect Microsoft's aim to get more into the mass-market. If Sony did this, I think they could get away with a T-rated game (but an E-rated game would be better overall, I think).
wouldnt mind getting the controller pack. but i already own a few of those games . wish it came with a points card instead.
@whatguy69/guitardude1243 They would never do that because the games they always add a terrible games and they dont add up to what a Wirless adapter + 1 year XBL costs. They charge like $100 for adapter here in Canada alone...RRIIPP OOFFF - - -Do they want my right arm too?
This is a lackluster bundle. They should've followed up with their game of the year bundle with something like Forza 3 included in the bundle. That one game can easily make up for the 2 mediocre games that they're attempting to get the people buy during the upcoming holiday season.
crap games. they also need to include the play and charge for free like sony does. while they're add it, they should throw in online service for free...like sony does.
I agree with "whataguy69." Dropping a 1 year subscription to Xbox Live seems much more profitable considering the renewal rates and content that person may purchase on the market.
Instead of doing the usual like bundling the console with games where only a handful of people would find enticing... why not remove the games and include a 1 year subscription of Xbox Live and a wireless adaptor for the same price.
Pure is a pretty good game. I'm looking to purchase it at a discounted price... I loved the demo but i didn't want to drop $60 on it.
