WWE '13 preorders score Mike Tyson playable character

THQ offering former heavyweight champion as exclusive playable fighter for those who reserve upcoming wrestling game.
Mike Tyson may be retired from the world of professional fighting, but he's making a comeback--albeit a virtual one--in THQ's new WWE '13 wrestling game. The company today announced that the former heavyweight champion will be available as a playable character to those who preorder the game in the United States or Canada for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, or Nintendo Wii.
THQ did not mention if the Mike Tyson playable character for WWE '13 will be available to those who do not preorder the game. As of press time, the publisher had not responded to GameSpot's request for comment on the matter.
This is not the first time Tyson has appeared in a professional fighting game. He was at the center of 1986's classic NES title Mike Tyson's Punch-Out, as well as 2000's Mike Tyson Boxing for the original PlayStation and 2002's Xbox and PlayStation 2 game Mike Tyson's Heavyweight Boxing.
WWE '13 is due out on October 30 and is being touted by THQ as the "most authentic, extensive, and fervent experience to date." The game introduces a new audio and presentation system called WWE Live, as well as another franchise first: a single-player campaign, focused on the organization's "Attitude Era."

I would have preferred an actual wrestler. But at least they're not making us preorder for a wrestler that should already be in the game (like The Rock from last year).
Pre-order? This Game? LOL what a joke. Why would anyone pre-order this game after the way they handled the last game? Sure pre-order it so that you can have a character that you might not be able to use online since the online function is junk, then you can waste months waiting for the fix they keep promising is on its way. Well at least you can download some custom characters... oops that isn't working either. Nope, I think I am just gonna have to miss out on "Iron" Mike Tyson till the game comes out and see the reviews and if they are positive then and only then will I get the game then months later when Tyson is released as dlc to everyone will I possibly purchase him.
@gatsbythepig Because he had a few matches in the WWE. But i don't get why THQ would put him in when he's not even a pro wrestler.
2 Like Really? Mike Tyson, I thought he was a professional boxer not a pro wrestler, just because he participated a few match in the WWE doesn't make him a pro wrestler. Then again it was even bigger joke when he actually got inducted into the WWE hall of fame.
I just read in the paper today that Iron Mike and Spike Lee are teaming up for a show on Broadway. It's supposed to be about the ups and downs of Mike's life and such. This would probably be the only show I would even remotely enjoy on Broadway.
I'm sick of this pre-order in-game-exclusive crap. It was different when they actually had real bonuses for pre-ordering like posters and figurines. Now it looks like they're just gutting parts of a game out for people who don't rush to buy it before they can try it.

oh how cute , theyre trying to sell another broken game by using an attitude era theme....people were robbed in wwe 11 and promised to never buy any THQ game and yet they bought WWE 12 then promised again and now buying WWE 13
This is part of the reason I've stopped watching WWE: their continued banking on crappy celebrities.

Of course there are tons of "Deeerp, Is his finisher biting peoples ears off! LAWL!!!!!!!" Shows some ignorance and lack of knowledge in boxing matches, because if they did they would have known the reason Tyson bit Holyfeilds ear off was due to the many, many headbutts Holyfeild was hitting Tyson with during the fight. I would have bitten his damn ear off too if he kept doing that shit.
WWE 12 was the worst wrestling game I've ever played. Why do they need to change the controls in every new game?
WWF Smackdown 2: Know Your Role was the best game in the franchise and I'd love to play that one again.
2 Like @DeadManRollin WWE12 did suck something fierce. Know Your Role was alright, but the massive loading screens and times was unbearable. Nothing can beat No Mercy.
@Philly1UPer Well I also heard those nintendo wrestling games were great, but I never played them much. I even liked WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2011, but WWE 12 was a big step backwards.
2 Like @Philly1UPer I agree, when it came to the best WWE wrestling game of all time, Wrestlemania 2000 and No Mercy are great examples. Day of Reckoning 1 & 2 as well as Know Your Role, and Here Comes the Pain were good as well.
@PSYCHOV3N0M Indeed! I loved the single player campaigns in SYM, HTCP and JBI. Good old days! I still have my PS2 just to play those games.

2 Like Besides his storyline with DX and Stone Cold during the Attitude Era, Mr. Tyson was also inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame this past year, so the timing on this preorder bonus makes sense.
Man WWE is so boring and the product is so stale these days I wish Vince Russo came back and did the writing. Speaking of which I wish this pre order was a Vince Russo character.
So if we pre order we get the man who bites the ears off his opponents....personally I'd rather have the man who bites off the heads of bats...Yes Ozzy Osbourne himself...lol sadly I doubt he's a fighter, he seems more like lover than a fighter....
7 Like People are forgetting Tyson had a brief stint in the WWE before the end of his career ... so did Mayweather and a lot of other boxers through history. Jack Dempsey was went into wrestling after he retired, before the WWE even existed. In Japan Muhammad Ali had a fight in the WWE's Japanese equivalent against Inoki ...
7 Like Mike Tyson was a big part of the start of the Attitude Era so, yeah, in a game about the Attitude Era he fits perfectly. Nice to see ignorance about wrestling still alive and strong though b^_^

Well when the current generation of wrestlers suck and the same storyline has been repeated over and over I guess he's an interesting addition.... sorta.... well maybe...... ok not really.
