Team 17's militant annelids arrive on Microsoft's online platform next week for $10.
Team 17 airdropped Worms on Xbox Live Arcade in March 2007, and the aggressive annelids have proven to be quite resilient. Twenty-one months after it debuted to positive reviews, the turn-based strategy wargame ranked among the top 10 most downloaded titles on the Xbox 360's online platform for 2008.
Soon, Team 17 will be calling in reinforcements, as the developer announced today that Worms 2: Armageddon will be available on Xbox Live on July 1 for $10 (MSP 800). With an enhanced edition of the original Worms redux added to the PlayStation Network in March 2009, Team 17 notes that Worms 2: Armageddon "is initially exclusive to Xbox Live Arcade."
Worms 2: Armageddon is based on the highly acclaimed Worms Armageddon, which originally saw release for the PC in 1999. Worms 2 features five all-new landscape scenarios built in the style of the original Armageddon, as well as 130 variations of those base maps. The game also brings over a number of Armageddon's weaponry, including super sheep, the Holy Hand Grenade, and the concrete donkey, with new armaments, including the bunker buster and Buffalo of Lies.
Team 17 also said that it has reworked the fundamental game physics, as well as tweaked the game's audio and visual style. Worms 2 also features a number of new modes for both single- and multiplayer, as well as an extensive suite of Worms customization options.
Worms 2 was popular back in 2000, nothing like playing a game on dial up that actually didn't really lag, but only because it was turn based :p
worms ftw. been playing these games since they came out and can't think of a better way to kill time with a few friends.
i hope this helps revitalize the worms community. right now it takes like 15 minutes just to find one person online over xbox live... looking forward to some intense battles
I've bought Worms for both PS3 and 360... no friggin' contest. Gotta love how all of the backgrounds cost MS points on 360, missing many weapons and chugged like a frathouse online too. I'll stick with the versions I'm currently playing: PS3 and Blackberry Bold.
worms armageddon was awesome, the wors they released for xbox live absolutely blew. it in no way lived up to that game with about a third as many weapons and utilities. the game didnt really even play like worms armageddon either, the wind really didnt have the same effect on projectiles which brought a high level of skill when aiming to the game. worms for live was taking turns shooting the bazooka at each other, it sucked. i really hope this game goes old school and does worms justice again.
i still play Worms on my N-gage every once and a while, now if I could get Worms on my BlackJack, I'd be good to go.
This is great news. I finally started playing worms at "World Party" but this is basically the same game I think... I might pick this up.
Wow is it me, but 800 points now seems like its cheap = S Seriously, nice to see a 800 MSP title, 1200 is simply too much.
excellent, i'm looking forward to more weapons....xbla still needs to port munchkin! one of the best card games out there.
andrew_ribbons Posted Jun 25, 2009 1:13 pm GMT I just wish Team 17 would stop living in the past and either make a new innovative IP, or make a new Worms game! They did that already.. Worms3d and it was absolute crap. I hope they include a 'worm placement' option in this next XBLA Worms game... the placing of the Worms is a tactical battle in itself
wooooooooooooooooooooooohhh worms armageddon is one of my favorite games so pumped the first worms was pretty basic, so this better have all the options and weapons the PC armaggedon did
I just wish Team 17 would stop living in the past and either make a new innovative IP, or make a new Worms game!
Finally this is coming out, but it does beg the question of why it couldnt have been brought out first instead of the worms we already have on xbla as it has so few options, its not like the console cant hack that sort of technology!
Brillaiant game, wnated this instead of the oringinal worms game that was released on XBLive. Glad to see all these PC classic crawling onto live - bring it on!
noone defeats me when i bring out my super secret weapon: the PROD! beware and tremble, for humiliating defeat is always flowing from my finger of death!
Me and my brother played the original worms for 22 hours strait on boxing day about ten years ago. I have a place in my heart for a second worms game on my 360.
