Wii U Smash Bros, Mario Kart, and 3D Mario all in next Nintendo Direct

The next Nintendo Direct will take place before E3 starts on June 11.
Nintendo has said on Twitter that its next Nintendo Direct will feature a look at Wii U versions of Smash Bros, Mario Kart, and the new 3D Mario title in the works at the Japanese publisher.
The Nintendo of America Twitter account wrote, "#IwataSays We will discuss new Smash Bros., 3D Mario game, Mario Kart and other Wii U titles in our #NintendoDirectNA before the start of E3."
Nintendo said in January that Nintendo EAD Tokyo, the team that made Mario Galaxy, Mario Galaxy 2, and Super Mario 3D Land, will be in charge of the new 3D Mario.
The new Smash Bros, meanwhile, is being developed by Namco Bandai.
No date has been given for the next Nintendo Direct. E3 2013 runs from June 11 through June 13.
Nintendo has opted out of a large-scale E3 press conference this year, saying it will instead focus its efforts elsewhere.
Last week's Nintendo Direct featured the publisher announcing a three-game exclusive Sonic partnership with Sega, a release date for New Super Luigi U, and new details about Pikmin 3.

@ahmadwow Nintendo isn't done. Uh execuse me, wasn't it The original xbox that flopped huge when it came out and it was only Halo that kept it anywhere near interesting. Nintendo will lose money, but they are far from out of the console race. The Nintendo wii was so incredibly popular when it was out, It took me over a year to grab one that wasn't selling for way more than it was worth and I still bought it new for a little more than it was worth. The Wii orginal, the Wii fit and the other innovative things that the orginal wii had enough money to keep them from going under anytime soon. Microsoft and Sony I believe seriously deep down can still be anxious that Nintendo will whip out another next gen "Wii type" console that will make their systems HAVE to copy nintendo because they thought of it first.
Now all Nintendo has to do is learn from their mistakes. They have sort of in the past. With their pricing that is on things like the Nintendo DS/3DS
@kazama99Nintendo stuck in the past , i was playing Mario and i enjoyed all series until 1999-2000 then moved to play Pokemon , and i enjoyed playing it much more , i had game boy , game boy color, game boy advance , Wii , and 3DS , but i guess they forget that i grow up . Mario and Pokemon are not my games any more, i m 25 years old now !! i would love to play games like mass effect , assassin creed , Gears Of War , God Of War . Final Fantasy , Kill Zone , halo , .... etc . Nintendo every couple of years releases Mario and Pokemon with much better graphics and with nothing new else , even with the same story for Mario and Pokemon . i played most of The games On Wii , the controller is cool and they find new way for controllers . but forgot that the control of most of its games is week and u can't play well while you are playing with IR and motion system .
they developed new games on Wii system like just dance and just dance 2 !! i liked both very much , but Microsoft with kinect did much better with just dance 3 and 4 .
final fantasy on PSX system is great , what about wii final Fantacy ??!!
even with Wii U I still find that PS3 graphics Is much better that Wii U
@kazama99 , Microsoft will win this console war , with kinect , entertainment system , and with the powerful GPU , Processor , and RAM . even i Find the Xbox one much more like VCR . but it is the true that we should know about Microsoft .
btw on the 1st release i will buy PS4 but im sure xbox one will win with war again
BTW, Microsoft will surely be following the Wii U for this gens consoles, I know it. So far they appear to be the money grubbing, Imperialistic screwballs everyone thinks they are. The 360 will so far be their only gaming console success so far.
Nintendo needs the Final Fantasy series back so they can fix it. Along with several other things. Just sayin!
Nintendo is getting the games right, it's the console that I'm disappointed with. The wii sucked. The games were decent but the controls were just stupid. The motion was only fun with wii sports. for every other game i just wanted a regular controller. Yah you can go buy the wii u controller but I mean come on a freaking tablet for a controller really? Just make a new smash bros with a simple controller like melee! Just with more characters and levels. Same goes with Mario Kart and all the others, that's all we want!
mario kart , hope the games will be playable before september. its really no use to release them late .
I'm looking VERY forward to Namco handling the next Smash Bros. game. Seeing what they can do with Tekken should be interesting on how they'll do it for the Smash Bros. formula.
For all the hate Nintendo gets, they're the only one of the "big three" that remains SOLEY a game console.
Nintendo, despite all the hate, I still support you.... but please release or at least announce some fresh new games!
It's about damn time we got new info on a new Smash Bros. Wii U will finally be relevant to me.

2 Like I'm really getting sick and tired of these Sony/Microsoft drones, they just keep hating on Nintendo no matter what they do. The ask "where are the Nintendo games?" and then when Nintendo announces them? They cry out to the internet like anybody cares, the funniest thing about it is that it's always the same ones on the comments sections hating on the Wii U, shows how they have to much time on their hands I guess.

3 Like @ploomp89 Yeah, Namco may be involved, but Sakurai is still heading the project. Nintendo wouldn't leave their mergers unsupervised (Miyamoto still watched over F-Zero GX).
New SSB's 'Wow' factor will have to be on the level of Melee, or else even that won't bring the Wii U out of it's funk. I've been continually comparing the Wii U since it's announcement at E3 a couple years ago to the Dreamcast; lets sincerely hope that I soon lose justification to make such comparisons.
1 Like More Mario eh? That's OK because the last 2 Mario games I played were great even if they were on the 3DS and I don't have a WiiU. I'll just stick with my 3DS and PS3/4 and be completely satisfied. Hell, there isn't enough time to keep up with all the games I want to play on the PS3 and add the 3DS into the mix and there is no way it would be justifiable to buy any other console. There really needs to be at least 30 hours in a day.

Too true. Although franchises like inFAMOUS, God of War, Gears of War and the like have hardly been around as long as Metroid, Zelda, and Mario.
Yep. A Good Smash Bros or Metroid is pretty much the only thing that could sell me a Wii-U.
Great news, but I should already be playing these games, not having an un-used console.
Please give us games ASAP
