Wii U launch set for November 18 - Report

So, this date ended up being real....Pretty damn impressive.

as stupid as this Wii U probably is my son's ma and him probably want one and so I ask what is the damage for this supposed to be ?

Just give me a decent Metroid and i'll buy this piece of hardware with a smile in my face.

Nintendo has put an awkward distance (release date-wise) between themselves and the other next-gen consoles. Looks like the graphics will once again be fairly behind its competitors. I don't mind, though. As long as the Wii U will get some long missing sequels.(Star Fox, anyone?)

i was thinking of buying a few to resell, but seeing as only 100 people bothered to comment, most of the negative with more thumbs up, im starting to think it wont fly off the shelves like the wii did

I hope Nintendo will release a new Pokémon Snap for the Wii U! It would be cool to use the tablet controller to take pics of the Pokemon on-screen. It would feel more interactive.

This is exciting! I can't want to see what games they announce at E3!!! Also why are people complaining that it comes out on a sunday?Seriously? Most people don't work on sundays...Meaning more people can go out and buy it... Well anyways.. You can always trust Nintendo for reliable and fun hardware.

Nintendo always going the right direction. Their innovative technology and their slow pace in graphics is a sure way to save money and enjoy rather entertaining games. However in my opinion (i have all 3 systems) ps3 and xbox jumped to far ahead to fast, leave the gamers grasping for better graphics in the next generation. Having better graphics means more money!! in 7 years after the next gen consoles come out the systems will be selling for 1000 dollars. Good job Nintendo keep your slow pace on graphics up!!! keep us entertained!!

I've been missing out a little on Nintendo news, but is the console catching up to this gen or is it representing the leap to the next one? If it's the former, then they are really far behind on the competition... if it's the latter, then I am seriously considering saving up...

If they announce a next gen f-zero, or a next gen Starfox, I will tear off my shirt and say "TAKE ME NINTENDO.....TAKE ME..."

Seems like a realistic date to me. Now where's that console F-Zero Nintendo? It's 8 years since the last one on GAMECUBE. Now, give me F-Zero, with a 30/40 players multiplayer racing modes and it will be instant buy. And no, I don't need another Mario Kart. I had enough of those item racing games. Thanks.

Good luck big N. First time I will not be purchasing a Launch day system. I think I will wait and see. On the positive side, I'm glad we have some separation with the next system launch days.

I still have a backlog of games for the Wii, so probably not a day 1 purchase. I'd rather wait and see what all these "amazing" third party titles are like before throwing more money at Nintendo.

@packtop The Wii was released in NA about 3 weeks before Japan so this wouldn't be the first time if true.

I'd be surprised to see it launched anywhere other than Japan first. That said I'm not too interested in it so will be waiting and seeing!

I might just pick this up if the blocked used games rumors for sony and MS are true.

And on that day, the Wii will be a "godsend" just like the N64 and GameCube (two consoles that had similar negative reception in THEIR respective gens) before it. Even if it does come out this November, I'm going to wait and stick with my other consoles for a while (Wii, GameCube, N64, and PS2)

This may be the first, and most likely the only case where the console is the accessory to the controller...

@PHOENIXZERO What planet have you been on? Nintendo has used Sunday as a release day dozens of times. Don't like it? Just wait till the Tuesday after to buy it, and pretend THAT was the launch day. :| Who cares WHAT day? It's just nice to see a new console have an actual date for once.

someone mentioned price. which makes me wonder how much the controller contributes to this... can you imagine breaking one and having to replace it? that thing would probably cost about as much as the console itself when sold separately. maybe more : o

November 18th is a Sunday... WTF launches on a Sunday, that's right NOTHING.

wonder what the lineup is... i've only seen a couple of multiplats being made for it.

This should give Nintendo a 1 year head start on Sony and Microsoft. November 18th 2012. The Wii U has to bring it all to the table. $350.00 tops this must cost. $250.00 is the usual launch price of Nintendo systems. I will chance it with Nintendo this Christmas.

Anyone gonna get Ninja Gaiden 3 for their brand spanking new Wii U? I'm hoping for a Sigma version with all the weapons already included and an major tweaks to the gameplay.

If I bought a console that turned into a dust collector due to lack of support/decent games, I'd have serious reservations about buying it's successor.

@mjc0961 Nintendo does this in Japan as well, and they do so so that people aren't skipping school and work to pick up Nintendo's new machines and games.

@DrKill09 The Gamecube is my favorite console. The two Zelda games specifically made for the Gamecube were OUTSTANDING. Super Mario Sunshine, Resident Evil IV and remake, Paper Mario, Super FREAKING Smash Bros. Melee! Where is your heart? Also, contrary to popular belief, the controller is awesome.
