Wii nears 30 million in US, Super Mario Galaxy 2 tops 1 million

@Darth_Tyrranus Yes it could surpass the psp but you dont know it may be near the wii graphics .see all the devs like hideo kojima, Square Enix ,Ubisoft. making games for the 3ds that they have never tried to make them on the wii. thats why i think that the 3ds will be the greatest handheld yet.(until the psp2 comes) :D .

johny300 From my research, it does look like the 3DS graphics will be better than the graphics on the PSP. However, Nintendo has had a history of underpowering their video game systems in order to make them affordable to the masses, so I really don't think we can expect the graphics to be anywhere near the Wii, much less Xbox360.

@StrongJunior Sorry i meant the graphics but i know that the 360 GPU is stronger and the ps3 had better cell procesor if im correct. but did the links prove to you that the ps3 games(exclusives) have better graphics and the (multiplats) have better graphics on 360. the textures, the shadowing effects, lighting`...etc is better on ps3 exclusives and yes i embarassed myself a few times :D . The 360 GPU gives you higher reselution textures.(multiplats)

@jonny300 please take some read before posting such a thing. Its true that "better textures gives you better graphics" but do not say such foolish things like saying that the relation between textures and graphical power is "better textures gives you better graphics". The graphical power make reference to the GPU power of the console, i mean the general processing power to process x resolution of x effects at a scene, you can't make comparations betwen games using the term "Graphical Power" the correct term is only "Graphics" like: Look this game has better graphics than this. Do you get it now??? when you said that the PS3 has a better graphical power than the XBOX360 you are saying that the GPU(Graphics Processing Unit) of this console is better than the XBOX360's GPU, Even if this wasn't your intention

@Darth_Tyrranus English is my second language. and see the scans of MGS and RESIDENT EVIL REVELATIONS does that look to you that the psp can have those graphics. i dont know if that the 3ds will have better graphics than the wii but see the scans of these games they look better than psp and maybe can have the wii graphics or surpass it. this is my opinion i didnt get this from nintendo or anyone. this is the first time that a handheld can have these graphics and the 3ds is coming to the US in march 2011(from gamespot).

Furthermore, your facts are as baseless as they are illogical (which I'm not even going to begin to get into.) How can you make such silly claims that the 3DS is more powerful than the Wii?! Have you actually looked at any of the screenshots? khaleel11183 is right, the 3DS graphics are comparable to that of the PSP. Instead of baseless assumptions, give me real specifications proving that the 3DS is more powerful than the Wii. I want specifications, not speculations. That is all.

@StrongJunior Better texturs give you better graphics. the lower textures detailes the lower the graphics are so textures are related to graphical power.

@StrongJunior I said on one of my first comments i said GOW3 cant be on 360 because of the the DVD9 and cant be on 360 because it uses 35GB. so you can have more detailed textures on the ps3 because the bluray can reach 50GB that means better textures( TEXTURES) the more textures are detailed the more the graphics get better like when you fight the giant in GOW3 can that giant be on the 360 no (the detailed textures are impressive) because disc space gives you more detailed textures that means BETTER GRAPHICS. maybe i didnt explain very well because English is my second language.

@johny300 If you know, then why do you just said that the ps3 has a better graphical power if it is not a problem of graphical power but a problem of space?? i don't understand, you said that you know, but when you said that the ps3 have a better graphical power you said the opposite. it is like i said, they have the SAME graphical power, but sometimes, they prefer to lower the textures than create a game that uses 3 discs. @StrongJunior I know that if the xbox360 had bluray it could handle god of war 3 and i know that the ps3 games have better textures because it uses bluray (GOW3 35GB) if you had more space you could have better textures thats why uncharted 2 cant also be on xbox like NAUGHTY DOG said uncharted 2 cant be on 360. . read my last comments about ROCKSTAR removed a lot of stuff from gta iv because the lack of the space for xbox 360 disc. on the ps3 you could put lets say 2 360 games in one bluray disc because of the bluray disc capacity. i understand what you said because i already knew. and ps3 has better textures when it comes to exclusives and graphics( uncharted 2 GOTY)

Is THAT what i talking about, when you say that GOW3 used 35GB you said everything, both consoles have the same graphical power but because of some other issues like the DVD9, some games can be best at the PS3, but NOT because the PS3 have BETTER graphics, the question is that the DVD9 can't handle decompressed textures which makes loadings go faster and uses more space but have better quality, and because that is better to make a game with only 1disc than a 3 disc game like Final Fantasy, do you understand now?? the problem is NOT the graphical power, but a question of lack of space on the DVD9 that XBOX uses. If the XBOX360 had a Blu-Ray Reader, i tell to you that you can be sure that the XBOX could run God of War 3 with no problems

Wow how did a flame war about 360 and PS3 end up on a story about Nintendo... Oh silly me the answer is obvious Fanboys defending their toys! No mine is better! No mine is better... get a life. Anyway cool to see Nintendo is still doing good, is it just me though or is it kind of sad that a great game, while posting great sales numbers still pales in comparison to the total number of Wiis sold worldwide? I mean selling a 3 million+ copies of game worldwide is damn good, but there are almost 71 million Wiis out there.

This shows how much you know.

You know this never ends. Ps3 "has the best graphics" ..... but we're yet to see them lol. Go Beyond3d (site) and check gfx-specs for released games. 360 pisses on the ps3 in 95 cases out of 100. No two ways about it. Perhaps next gen Sony-fanboys! :)

@ Johny300 If you bother to read the comparisons posted by gamespot, you will notice that most common games look better on the x360(e.g. assasin creed 2, COD:MW2, Batman: AA, RE 5, Bayonetta). Even arcade games with simple graphics like deathspank have better framerate on the 360, so, from where did you make up the fact the ps3 has better graphics? and seriously, the original xbox has better graphics than the 3ds (kid ikarus actually looks like a psp game). Saying that 3ds has comparable graphics with the 360 just shows how much you know.

@Flint247 That's because they don't know that the Wii has variety. For one, if they really dislike the Wii so much do you think they will go out and look to see if the other games in it's library are worth it? Hell no, it's easier to say "99% of Wii games suck and are for kids", than to actually bother to look. They might also ignore some of the lesser known good Wii games since they're not Halo, or God of War, etc. and therefore not recognizable to these "hardcore gamers" that won't bother buying something new that didn't make the front page of Gamespot/IGN. Now don't get me wrong, compared to the PS3/360 the Wii lacks in numbers, but to say that it doesn't have any good games, or that only it's 1st party games are good shows that you don't know sh it about what your talking about.

This incorrect, the graphical power of XBOX 360 is the same as the ps3, the difference is that the PS3 have a better processor and XBOX 360 have a better RAM Speed, we have some misunderstandings on some games like Borderlands wich have the textures better on the PS3 than on the XBOX 360 but this is because of the low space that a DVD9 can offer, so, they prefer to lower the texture quality and add some cool effects than create a 2 DVD9 game. I like both my PS3 and XBOX 360. The games are nearly identical if not equal, and i like the two of them but some epic games like Fable 2 don't have on the PS3 and others like God of War 3 don't have at the XBOX, so i prefer to have the two of them Sorry for my english, i'm not the best yet

The graphical power: 1. PS3 2. XBOX 360 3. WII and graphics arent that important nintendo focused on gameplay instead of graphics. and the 3ds graphics are close to 360 graphics.(handheld)

The difference between June and May for SMG2 sales were about 20,000. That's pretty good for the game. / The real games would be when Goldeneye 007, Metroid: Other M, DKC Returns, and many great E3 games come during the holidays. Have I forgotten Call of Duty which will probably sell more than a million.

@SloganYams I have to agree with that. I don't get why people diss the Wii for it's games. The Wii has plenty of variety to choose from and enjoy.

Different games, different tastes. The wii currently has an attach rate of just over 7 games per console, which is very close to the PS3 and 360.

I'm glad SMG2 is a success, think about all the people who would miss the best game ever :D

71 million consoles out there and only 1/2 a million game sales :/ Thats like 0.75 % attach rate. Thats horrific!!! What are wii owners using their consoles for? I mean its not like it does anything else other than games is it?

The Wii isn't a dust collector. Only in terms of the FPS does it not get much attention. But Wii has something that the 360 and PS3 lack: variety! 360 has a lot of great games, but all of them are either an FPS or western RPG. PS3 has a lot of action games. Wii has a little of everything, and like the other consoles, a lot of fun. The best part about the Wii is that a great Wii game has an identity of its own, whereas a great 360 game may look a bit like other great 360 games.

We will have to see whether Super Mario Galaxy 2 will outsell the original, and I believe it would be more likely the case. As for the Wii, if it continues to have solid sales in the next few years, it will eventually cross the 100 million sale mark, within reach of the original PlayStation's worldwide numbers.

It's weird to see how much bias and antagonism people still show over these consoles now that they've been out for a few years. I'm getting tired of reading about which of user x's next-gen consoles is "collecting dust." That's almost more of a statement about genre preference, anyway.

lol a lot of fanboys are here. anyway for all of you who say the Wii has bad games don't blame Nintendo blame the third party developers. Nintendo makes good games all the time but of course the fanboys will focus on games that suck like Hannah Montana(we all know they love her) and all the other kiddie games. so much hate still for wii. real gamers play good games, fanboys play systems. and when it comes down to it, Wii has lots of great games, just like the other consoles/PCs, and if your a bias fanboy, then u miss out on great games no matter what system they are on.

Nintendo is going down, the only thing that keeps them afloat is the stupid DS, they sure haven't made the Wii a better system since it's release....They have Wii Motion Plus but it hardly helps... The games on Wii suck too, even the ones that aren't too bad myself I can only play a Wii game for about 10 or 20 minutes before I get bored. It's funny too that they end up in third place yet they spin the story to make themselves look good, NO! your reputation is tarnished, you haven't had mass success since SNES so just quit trying or make a system and games that can compete with the big players......

Thats like if you take all the PS3 owners around the world and throw them into one country would equate to Wii owners in the US.
