Wii Fit top-selling game in Australia in 2008
Nintendo dominates top-10 game list in Australia for 2008.
Anyone who kept an eye on the Australian game-sales charts in 2008 would probably have guessed that Nintendo would figure heavily when the final year sales were tallied. Figures from local industry tracker GFK Australia have now confirmed that, given that eight out of the 10 games in the annual list of top-selling console games of 2008 were Nintendo games. Wii Fit--a constant number one in last year's weekly charts--unsurprisingly finished in the top spot.
Nintendo Australia's managing director, Rose Lappin, said that the company was part of a rising trend. "As recently announced through the IEAA, the industry has seen a growth in social gaming, which we are pleased to be a part of," Lappin said.
The top-selling console games of 2008, according to GfK Australia, were:
1. Wii Fit (Wii)
2. Wii Play (Wii)
3. Mario Kart (Wii)
4. Mario and Sonic At The Olympics (Wii)
5. Grand Theft Auto IV (PS3)
6. Grand Theft Auto IV (Xbox 360)
7. Brain Training (DS)
8. Mario and Sonic At The Olympics (DS)
9. Super Smash Bros. Brawl (Wii)
10. Big Beach Sports (Wii)
