OOh man the Wii Fit is like nothing, if you wanted good results you should just go to a gym like me, I lost 50+ pounds already, and you can too.

What we heard: Nintendo has already successfully positioned itself in the lifestyle market, with games such as Personal Trainer: Walking, Big Brain Academy, and the ever-popular Wii Fit selling in droves. Now, Australian game-industry analyst firm Macquarie Research is predicting that Nintendo may have yet another mass-market game up its sleeve in the form of Wii Fit Plus.
Details are scant, but Macquarie is speculating that the fitness game will be unveiled at this year's Nintendo E3 Press Event (Tuesday, June 2 at 9:00 a.m. PDT), and will be available both individually and bundled with the Wii Balance Board. Recent trademark filings in the Japanese trademark database for Wii Fit Plus, as well as an English logo (pictured), have also surfaced on tech blog Siliconera. In addition, popular Nintendo-centric site GoNintendo is also touting a scan of what it says is an Amsterdam-based retailer's release list, which mentions the game.
Signal Hill analyst Todd Greenwald also points toward a Wii Fit announcement at E3, though he does not go as far as to name-check Wii Fit Plus. Both he and Macquarie's team are furthermore expecting new "core gamer" Wii games to be announced, with new entries in the classic Zelda, Mario, and Kid Icarus (Nintendoeverything concept pictured) franchises being offered as candidates.
"With Wii hardware sales falling off dramatically in recent months, we believe Nintendo needs to do something in the coming months to boost sales," said Greenwald. "For the first time since launch, a price cut may even be considered (though not at E3)."
Both Signal Hill and Macquarie also sounded off on what they think might be in store at Sony's E3 Press Conference (Tuesday, June 2, 11:00 a.m. PDT). The former believes that Sony's dire financial straits will likely rule out any announcements about the console's cost at E3.
"Sony appears to be so cost-constrained that it may choose to wait to cut the price until it will have the maximum impact, and June may not be that time," explained Greenwald. "We do expect a significant price cut by the end of summer but are not convinced that it will come at E3, which may disappoint some investors."
Though Greenwald would conjecture only that Sony "might" unveil a new UMD-less PSP at E3 (artist's rendition pictured), Macquarie was much surer. "We expect Sony to announce an improved PSP, including a sliding touch screen with only download game offerings (no UMD disc), as well as expanded PSN offerings. We don't think this will be well received, but we are worried the pricing might be well above the existing model's $199 price point," read its report.
Macquarie also lent credence to widespread rumors that Sony is readying a thinner PlayStation 3 model. Its analysts believe that "No price cut for PS3 is expected, but we think it likely the slimmer model is announced at the same current price of $399 and with a price cut of $100 closer to the holiday season."
Both companies' E3 previews also mention Microsoft's much-talked-about "Minority Report-like" motion-sensing camera, which might help the company compete in the motion-sensing race currently led by Nintendo.
"After the company at the last minute canceled the launch of a Wii-like controller last year, we think they will offer a new camera that enables interaction with the Xbox 360 without using a controller," read Macquarie's rundown. "As with any new hardware, it is more crucial what software offering is made. However, in the end, we still think users need a button in the hand to control a game and hence are doubtful this idea of no controller will take off."
Signal Hill offered two possible big "potential" unveils at Microsoft's E3 Press Conference (Monday, June 1, 10:30am PDT). Besides the previously mentioned camera, Greenwald suggested that a new portable would be a possibility, though he does not mention less-than-credible rumors of a "ZuneX."
The official story: Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo all did not comment.
Bogus or not bogus?: As Wii Fit continues to dominate sales charts one year after its April 2007 release, a sequel is all but assured. But with the most devout Nintendans beginning to question their faith, Nintendo better roll out something for the hardcore. As for Sony, at this point it would surprising if it didn't unveil a new PSP, and mysterious threats of legal action didn't help dispel those Slimline PS3 rumors. Finally, with such respected journalists as Dean Takahashi--who has written two books on the Xbox--saying that the motion-sensing camera deal is done, expect it to be front and center at Microsoft's event.
GameSpot's Tor Thorsen and GameSpot UK's Mark Walton contributed to this report.
LOL...Some people are stupid. If you want to be "Wii Fit", get your ass on a weight bench, and a treadmill! Or better yet, go running outdoors, in the woods, on the mountains, or down the beach. I workout my upperbody 30 mins a day, and run 2 miles, 3 times a week. Im no Ahhnold, but at least I look good. Try this. Bench press, 160 pounds 10 times, 150 12 times, 140 12 times. Curl with dumbells. 40 pounds each dumbell, 10 times each. 35 pounds each dumbell 12 times each, 25 pounds each dumbell 14 times each. 3 sets of 40 pushups.(or as many as you can) Then get some water, re-hydrate, do some mild stretches then take off running for as long as you can at full speed then when you cant run no more, slow down to a walk, and walk at least 4 to 6 times the distance you ran at full speed, without stopping.
its a tad odd how people are still lookin at the picture of the psp and saying it looks cool... and here's me thinking that they've already shown off the PSP go lol... but yeah lets make another one... cos the Go looks pants :D
Personally, I would prefer a new PSP with a UMD slot and it would be awesome if it had 2 analog sticks. At the moment, I don't think I'm going to get the new PSP.
Wii Fit plus? An new game? Or the old one released with additional content? If the latter, can people that bought the regular version get the 'plus' content for free (dlc, disc by mail, etc)?
the new concept for the psp looks cool but is it solid i mean when i bump into a wall or something while playing will the screen break off and no umd will definitly kill sales because not every one has a way to download games i no plenty of people still without internet yet im sure they would like to have a psp but without access to the media that maybe out for them
The PSP concept makes ZERO sense since the triggers are unreachable... I doubt it will slide because handhelds have to be solid because kids drop them all the time. Sliders are the weakest of the 3 major designs (Bar, Flip, Slide) in phones, what would change about this? If it slides it will be nothing like the rendering.
PSP sucks, PS3 is a great system but copying the technology that Nintendo introduced could be the downfall for them and Microsoft, Consumers aren't stupid, they will go for the WIii who came up with the concept. This is starting to be a big joke to a business man like myself. :) Invest in the Wii forget about the rest. :D
New PSP sounds good. Will save up for it. I really hope it has a 2nd analogue stick, thats what ruined the PSP1 for me. It's diffidult to play PS1 games on it with 2 less shoulder buttons and less one stick. Even without a 2nd one, I'll probably still buy it.
Hwo come Sony and Microsoft are devloping new consoles but then what's Nintendo doing other than new software
There is a few more days left, but in my head it feels so far away. See what rumors & speculation can do to someone. My speculation: Wii Fit Plus will be revealed no question about that, but what I think will make it such a bigger appeal than the original, is the line up of celebrity instructors that will provide instruction on a particular exercise. My bet...a lot of tween actors that will attract the pop crowd and entertainers like the Beyonce type......not actually her but to that affect. Look at all the celebrity ads they've been pushing recently.
i really doubt my dreams will come true though. nevertheless i will still prob pick up the new PSP to reignite my passion for the system.
ZuneX is fake man i'm sorry. I am hoping that this isn't just a PSP "redesign" and it is a full fledged replacement PSP2. I feel that my psp loses all the attention to my PS3 due to new games coming out, graphics, and overall features. it is hard to be a handheld gamer when you are addicted to fallout 3, guitar hero (play it with my GF), Oblivion, GTAIV, LBP, and COD4 and 5. where do i find the time to push in a handheld game with limited capabilities in comparison. They need a PSP2 not a PSP1.5
good news!!! this PSP really looks coll, but no UMD is kind strage. A slim PS3 is waited since the announce of the PS3 because always PS lines have a slim plataform.
gunna be a greatt e3 regardless of everything i hope all these great things come to fruition though would be sickk
I have a 360 and love the games on my 360, but I get a bad feeling that Microsoft will have an E3 like Nintendo did last year. I could care less about the camera, as I'm sure most real gamers would, and don't care for another portable although I no some do. I want good games. GAMES. Not some stupid add on. How many millions off Wii's are collecting dust because there are not that many great games on the system. As for the new PSP, I would hope it has some kind of big hard drive that will let you put your own content on there too.
a firmware update that allowed psp users to save games to the memory stick, to either play on the old psp or transfer to a new psp with a mini usb cable would be great.
I think some of you need to realize that in the next 5-10 years, there will be no more discs, it's all gonna be digital download only. It will save both the buyer and the distributor money. Also, given the success of the iPhone, it's a no brainer. As far as poeple without internet, just get internet, it's cheap. As far as memory goes, buy some more memory, it's cheap. You gotta keep up with the times or you're gonna get left behind. You gotta also realize that PSN and Xbox Live get most of their income from digital distribution. It's called cutting out the middle-man. But don't be mad at me for shooting a little truth your way, if you learn to accept it things will go much easier for us all.
they probably are making wii fit plus in competition of ea sports active. and it may indeed sale good if you don't have to pay more than 60 bucks
im going to be real i read the sony part only and what they said makes me question how good of analysts they are. slim ps3? not anytime soon. PSP 2 more expensive? possible but doubtful. not well recieved? pure idiocy best comptetition for Apple and Nintendo.
i dont get where all this PSP hype keeps coming from. about a year ago, someone made a fake picture of what they thought a PSP2 would look like, and since then, theres been nothing but PSP re-design talk! and none of it is good! the fans dont want a PSP2, especially if its has NO B.C., which is ridiculous. even if its just a redesign without a UMD reader? so what am i supposed to do with all these games i own and cant play!? it better not happen. unless they are willing to completely lose the handheld market. every analyst and fan ive heard says that it would be a terrible move by sony... yet the rumors still fly...
Sony don't need a new version of the PSP, what they need is to concentrate on releasing a solid stable of games for the system. In the form of both UMD and digital download.
I knew that they where going to make the PS3 slimer. They have done it to everyone of their systems. That new psp kind of looks crappy.
Nothing is official...so I'll still hope for it to be a PSP 2...I don't wanna see another new version of the PSP, it would be very ridiculous to make the same console but with just a few modifications in hardware than higher quality hardware. More games would also be nice Sony, I'm sick in having to play a good PSP game once very 6 months. Oh, and if you make this PSP with phone service and integrated photo camera, I would gladly appreciate it, I'll throw my cellphone and camera away.
@kemar7856 Damn, thanks for lettting me know. This means im still in the dark as to what it would look like. I personally would like a giant screen. about 7 inch of screen if all possible.
My take (and opinion). 1, Wow a new Nintendo WiiFit, gotta say i'm totally suprised at that announcement (Sarcasm), lets not forget more franchise milking, in the form of yet even more Mario products. 2, A new Sony PSP would be welcome. 3, The MS Motion sensing camera sounds interesting.
THATS THE NEW PSP... AWSOME! I cant wait to buy it. The damn thing looks so sexy. However it also looks extremely fragile. I hope there is insurance on it. Either way im buying and the new xbox new motion sensor camera is going to rule all motion sensing stuff.
instead of umds, they can put the games on mem stick pros. download only would be a bit of a pain, but the device is portable, so you could easily find a hotspot, but on the other hand who want to wait at a hotspot while you dl 700mb-5gb wirelessly (to play ps1/ps2 games)? if this is merely an update to the psp and not a full psp 2, im going to be sick. sony releases psps more often than they release games for the psp. look at the upcoming titles list for psp, its pathetic by any standard.
i find it funny that sony, the company that keeps wanting you to drop your current collections and upgrade everything to their new format, is clinging so hard to the ps2. while they want you to buy your movies again in umd and blu-rays, theyre maintaining that the ps2 is still good to play games on. well vhs is still good to play movies on, you fail sony. sony needs to dump the ps2, intro the psp2 with 2 joysticks, and be able to play ps2 games, and stream my ps3 to it, so i can play ps3 anywhere i can connect wirelessly (locally). as well with skype, mp3 playing features, and the sony store, it could reasonably compete with the ipod touch. if they made a phone version of it too, it could take out the iphone. the psphone would be huge for me, and i really love my iphone. sony has their r+d separated into computer, cell phone, gaming divisions, etc. and its casing them to bleed money, and be uncompetitive in todays tight market. there will always be a market for overpriced gadgets, but in tough economic times people want them to do more than just make calls, or just play games. apples iphone proves this. @ Rottenwood "It may look like a pastel brick, but man, you can beat a mugger with it and it'll still play 'Phantom Hourglass' just fine on the ride home" LOL
E3 this year will be nothing less than epic but PS3 really needs to step up its game if it wants to keep up with the Wii and 360. A slime PS3 means no price cut and the new PSP will of course be higher in price which is something that nobody wants. Microsoft will keep on going strong and so will the Wii. Yeah the ZuneX will probably be expensive if Microsoft decides to announce it but it is something new not a remake of something old. As or Nintedo maybe making new games of the classics of Mario and Zelda how much better can it get? So E3 should hopefully have a lot in sotre for us this year.
Sony never quite 'gets' the portable market. I hear rumors of high-end $300 PSP revamps... are they on dust? Making your portable overly fancy and expensive is why they stumbled to begin with. Being state-of-the-art is a waste of time for something you jam in your coat pocket and play on the subway. The DS is on track to be the top-selling machine of all time because it plays a huge library of fun games, doesn't cost much, and is ugly as sin for maximum durability. It may look like a pastel brick, but man, you can beat a mugger with it and it'll still play 'Phantom Hourglass' just fine on the ride home.
@ taylormadederek: unbelievable Wii fanboys are. But the list above mentions Zelda, Mario, Wii fit plus, and kid Icarus.. so what is so much more original there than the other games you list in your post??? NOTHING unbelievable.
how can a new PSP be 100% downloadable, you think even today every single person has the internet? It still needs some form of media or it will fail. Hell, I have DSL and I still don't download games for my PSP. Plus this is going to completely alienate the millions of people with UMD PSPs when no new games come out for our systems anymore. Honestly, is Sony even trying? Or are they trying to completely get blown out of the gaming market altogether.
