Wise-cracking wabbit Bugs Bunny and company get their own adventure this fall; Acme Arsenal features mix of combat, puzzles, vehicle-based action.
An anvil dropped on the heads of gamers today as Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment announced the development of a new game based on the Looney Tunes cartoons. Looney Tunes: Acme Arsenal is currently in development by Australian developer Redtribe, and is due out on the Xbox 360 and Wii this fall.
Acme Adventure will feature seven playable characters from the Looney Tunes cartoons, including Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Foghorn Leghorn, Marvin the Martian, Gossamer, Tasmanian Devil, and "a special secret character." The Xbox 360 version will support Xbox Live play, and the Wii version will make full use of the motion-sensitivity of the Wii Remote.
The action/adventure game will feature single-player or two-player cooperative modes, with gamers engaged in "fast-paced combat," puzzles, and vehicle-based action. Settings for the game include ancient Egypt, Mars, World War II, and Camelot.
A quick visit to Redtribe's Web site reveals that the game may also be coming to the PlayStation 2. On its list of games currently being developed, it lists "an innovative fast-pace action platform game for the 360, PS2, and Wii Platforms" accompanied with art that would suggest the game is Acme Arsenal.
In mid-December, Warner Bros. invested in SCi Entertainment Group, the parent company of Eidos. As part of the deal, Eidos got the rights to make games based on several WB properties, including Looney Tunes. However, it is unclear if Eidos will be involved with this project at all.
WBIE has not yet priced the game, nor has the ESRB rated it.
I remember when I was a child I played the hell out of Acme games, they were fun. I hope this does justice to the old cartoons.
Zelda has always been a game. The cartoon your are thinking of was based on the game. @ LosDaddie: lol I don't think they'd make one unless they were in demand xD
Ah, I remember playing a few Looney Tunes games in the past, and, to tell you the truth, I enjoyed them very much. So, I hope that this game will also be as enjoyable. (nostalgia hits)
I remember watching Looney Tunes when i was a kid but could someone tell me the name of a game that was based on a TV show that actually did good
You got that right, Paul_TheGreat!! ;) I`m really eager to see how it is, having grown up watching these. And the Wii is the perfect console for it, as it has that childish atmosphere and the controller.
Good, it's not on the PS3!:P This should be a pretty funny game, but I'm not sure how successful it will be. I'll check it out though for sure!
I'd comment, but I don't want to be moderated again... ... all I'll say is... has anyone ever played a GOOD Looney Tunes based game? Me neither.
I hope they don't mess this up. Looney Tunes Space Race on Dreamcast was great multiplayer fun but the ai was flawed.
The last loony toons game on the Xbox was great fun for me and my dad and even my best freind. So hopfully this one will be cool and fun too. I just hope that this time they make it more like the old loony toons games.
Bugs: Crusher!!! So nice of you to drop by. Crusherr in a daze voice: Yeah well I was jusss pashing by... jusss pashing by.. duhhh Thought I'd drop by and say helloooo. Duhhhh Just pashing by.
Awesome. I'm hunting for wabbits, wascally wabbits "Duck season! Rabbit Season! Duck Season! Rabbit Season!"
In terms of characters, animation and story, the Looney Tunes directed by Chuck Jones remain some of the greatest cartoons ever made (in this animators opinion), of course that's a matter of opinion, but frankly if you think you're too old for Looney Tunes then you shouldn't be commenting on a game all about Looney Tunes. I really hope this can capture at least a little bit of the Looney Tunes magic but it'll be extremely tough
This is the FIRST game that I know of which is coming out on the Wii and only one of the other two consoles.... Hrm....PS3 at a loss? Granted it's only looney tunes, still all this waiting for titles is rough.
I have yet to play a game on any platform that I thought did the source material justice. When Mel Blanc and Chuck Jones died, so did the best WB had to offer. Who knows, maybe they'll pull it off...but I'm not betting on it.
They say xbox live play, but what about Wii online play? The online service will have been out for a long time when this game comes out... wtf?
