Wii 2 controller sports 6.2-inch touch screen?

Oh hey, looks like the rumors were true!

@snake-ala No, Nintendo innovates by taking dying technology, and making it work. Motion controls never worked before the Wii, and neither did touch controls, handheld gaming or analog sticks.

It seems as though people are forgetting that this is a rumor. There is no guarantee that this will be the new controller, though the possibility still exists. The touch screen may even be an attachment like WiiMotion Plus, and have other controllers that have this integrated. The only things that can be correctly assumed at this point are that the controller will be wireless, it will have the A and B buttons, and have at least one joystick.

Man, the Wii2 is going to be INCREDIBLY AWESOME!!! I can't wait until E3 this year!!!

This is a really terrible idea if it's true. Do you realise how expensive these things would be if it was real? They could cost anywhere from $100 to $200 depending on the hardware, and if the controller is able to be taken away from the console and used as a portable device, then it could be $230 or more.

Like I said before and I will say again. I got the wii i got the motion plus. I got the stepping board thing expecting some multi player online gaming action. black ops was all i got. nice game but wheres the multi player sword fighting game or boxing game, baseball with motion plus. basketball like on sports resort but multi player what happened? Why a new system I'm still waiting for the games from the old system. Cooking momma and zumba weren't exactly what I had in mind for fun.

@svalink your a retard Nintendo has always been number one in sales, as much as i hate their idea with a wii-pad they will most likely sell out once again.

It will be a big mistake to lunch Wii 2 before PS4. hope they don't do this , we don't need other PS3 or X360.

IT's ALL in the CLOUD. Just get some good deals with broadband providers for extra Nintendo Bandwidth and operate on an OnLive fashion system. Compete on prices, art and unique controllers. But no more consoles. Our rooms are getting cluttered.

There really seem to be some lack of focus with this new console of Nintendo that am slightly worried it might flop. I hope they totally understand what is being achieved on the smartphone front. Those little bastards are not what they used to be. In less than a year they'll be as powerful as an NGP. Then what ? Why the heck would I buy a console ?

Can I please get a traditional paddle? I don't want touch screen.

every succesful console is known for its heavy shovelware , face it if you want a console with very little shovel ware its gonna be the one that fails , see n64 or ps3 even , dc? how bout all sega consoles past 16 bit era!

@svalink, so true, big N told some months before the realese of 3ds wich will come with HD graphics and its indeed ! This was not a rumor like I had a feel in the past that Nintendo was selling the idea that Nds is 64 bits, and that s not true.

Whatever happened to the good ol' SNES days? : ( I'm looking forward to the reveal at E3, but after the Wii I'm gonna be extra cautious before jumping on the bandwagon.

I like how the haters come here to talk trash. You can kind of tell who likes Nintendo secretly just by reading the posts. Seriously, what kind of hater keeps themselves posted on everything Nintendo does? @chibi-acer Actually, I think it's more beneficial than anything that people are spreading rumors about their new console - it hypes people up. Denying the rumors always helps too, that way you didn't make any promises. The bad thing is that most people here probably haven't even realized that these are just rumors... but I think that's a different problem all together.

In my opinion, I am glad the Nintendo Wii was different than the 360 and PS3. I like how they focus on their own ideas and not try to make the "most powerful system ever". I am definitely getting more interested in these "Wii 2" rumors. I hope most of the rumors come true. Nintendo sure knows how to make things fun. I can't wait for E3. :)

I think its clear Nintendo isn't trying to compete with Sony or Microsoft. Both Sony and Microsoft are more traditional consoles, while Nintendo specializes in creating something different and innovative that wont compete with either other companies. I mean think about it, if the Wii was more similar to an Xbox 360 or Ps3 then it would not have sold so well. There are many people who own both a Wii and a ps3/360 but not all 3. If the Wii was just a similar alternative who knows if it would be the same.

@drswank It's you son. The rumors were crazier years ago when there was no internet. I remember reading about a particular rumor talking about a controller Nintendo was supposedly working on for the Ultra 64 (console not released yet) that attached to your wrist. I never heard or read anything about it again, but that was just whacked for the time. I guess we finally got that controller in '06 though.

Is it me or are console rumors getting more over-the-top every generation?

What innovation!!! the stores are full of Ipads, Galaxy taps... and don't forget the ipad has motion tech. , for Nintendo it all depend on Games, Make good games everyone will buy your console, 3DS is out and no single great game yet i bought it and i played it for two days only and still waitting for a good games :/ we love Nintendo for the games.

@shadowSora microsoft already announced it will NOT be makeing anouther console. if you havent already noticed, nintendo is about innovation, not raw power.

it's not a Wii without wiggle sticks, it's going to be the NES 2.0

They should put at least 1 gb ram becuz if we will see it to e3 then release date propably will be (2012?)So When the next consoles of Ms and Sony will come out the project cafe would be weak in comparison to "ps4" and "xbox 720"

i doubt the price will increase much , im sure it will still cost 60 bucks for the controller, the cost of lcd screens should be even cheaper remember nintendo gets them in bulk as a result gets a good deal then we would, the ds screen is only a mear 6 bucks i know cause i had to replace mine , this should be 12 bucks sincei ts double in size or less , but would not bump the controller in price, and plus this is rumor ,

@DivineShadow218 I could be wrong, but if memory serves, that was essentially a D-pad style mechanism with a stick attached (i.e. wasn't a analog stick). Sony's situation isn't important though, the Atari 5200 and the Vectrex both preceded even the NES itself, and are actually kinda tied for first place (I believe both came out Nov 1982).

Calling it right now. The Wii 2 won't need a TV to be played on, and instead everything will be viewed from the controller screen.
