There is something severely wrong with HK-47 doesnt win Greatest Sidekick of the year...... severely severely wrong........ ah well
You've picked the mightiest game heroes and the most nefarious villains...but can you pick the greatest game sidekick ever?
Come one, come all to GameSpot's All-Time Greatest Game Sidekick--the competition where you choose which video game companion becomes a legend. GameSpot's editors have compiled a list of 80 iconic allies across the entire history of video games, from the arcade games of yesteryear all the way to the modern PC and console games of today. And now's your chance to have your say. Vote now!
Here's where things stand: The initial vote is open, which means that your votes will narrow down this initial field of 80 characters to 64. Yes, you can vote for up to 64 of the most memorable, helpful, powerful, and lovable game sidekicks between now and August 28. On the 29th, the 64 most highly voted characters will move on to the bracket phase.
Brackets, you say? Yes, brackets. Much like the brackets used in the NCAA March Madness college basketball series, All-Time Greatest Game Sidekick will then pit the 64 sidekicks you voted for against each other in a series of competitive rounds that will all be decided by your votes. With each phase of bracket voting, half of the competitors will be sent home, and we'll get closer and closer to reaching the final four, and then the final two, and finally…the single All-Time Greatest Game Sidekick. There can be only one.
Better still, starting on August 29, you'll be able to seed your own bracket and try to predict which game characters will come out on top. Can you pick the best brackets? Can you predict which game character will triumph over all? If you can, you could win fabulous prizes, up to and including the ultimate home gaming setup, which includes all three consoles and a huge new gaming TV! Along with bragging rights and the respect and awe of your peers, of course.

Robin is the best sidekick eveeeeer, but since he's not really a video game sidekick he doesn't qualify, although he is in the new batman game.
I sure hope there is another opportunity to share how we voted since I was unable the first time around.
I'd rather have Liara reprrsent ME. Not that it matters .. the Companion Cube will rout this rabble.
i don't know about the greatest... but the coolest sidekick on this list would be garrus for sure. would have liked to see grunt here as well. the best sidekicks i have ever played with were my squadmates in battlefield. lol. keep up the good work guys. ;)
kind-of dissapointed here, from the ME universe they chose Garrus and not Tali, she was a far more memorable and likeable companion and in my opinion would have received more votes...also dissapointed they didn't include somebody from DA, Merryl comes to mind, never met a sweeter sidekick... personally I chose only 10 from these, the only ones I think were worth anything, personal favorite is Morte (the dialogue he gives you before entering the final dungeon is the bomb), runner ups include HK-47 and Crow... also, damn, do these many people really like the mario universe that much? hope at least the companion cube kick their arses...
where is the girl from Enslaved: Odyssee to the West? And the Dragon from Panzer Dragoon Saga?? And Knuckles?? all those random, crappy sidekicks no one has EVER heard of that have only been in one random game and yet some really good ones get missed out? Typical!!
Sorry Robin, looks like even Luigi beat you and made it to this competition...back to the batcave =[
The Greatest sidekick i had was Issun from okami. But in ALL the games yoshi deserves this, sacrificed himself so many times for a greater good and jump.
Why were there no sidekicks from any survival horror games? Like Mary from SH2... or the chick from the Subway station in SH4? Or the various RE sidekicks...
