Watch Dogs out this holiday?

Leaked marketing material suggests Ubisoft's mysterious action game coming to "all home consoles" later this year.

Kotaku has obtained marketing material for the Chicago-set action game Watch Dogs that states the title will ship for "all home consoles" during this holiday season.

This lines up with comments from Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot, who said last year during a financial call that Watch Dogs would be out sometime in 2013.

The poster for Watch Dogs features quotes stating the game will be a "truly next-gen adventure," though it does not specify any consoles. Next-generation consoles from Microsoft and Sony are believed to be on store shelves for this holiday season. Sony may even announce the PlayStation 4 next week.

The poster also features the words "Power Up Rewards," suggesting the material leaked out of GameStop.

Watch Dogs was announced during Ubisoft's 2012 Electronic Entertainment Expo media briefing last June with no official word on platforms or a release date. It is an all-new intellectual property in development at Ubisoft Montreal that focuses on hacking.

Representatives from Ubisoft and GameStop were not immediately available to comment.

I just hope it doesn't turn out like some games when you expect them to be so awesome... then it slaps you in the face.

Surely there are 3 holidays each year.... Easter, Summer and Christmas (winter)...... I will never understand why americans refer to the Christmas Holidays as "Holiday season" Sure you have thanks giving etc and its generally the time of year when everyone has some time off work.

But why not refer to it as Q4 or Christmas........

@alex-willoz More people celebrate Thanksgiving/Christmas/New Years combined than any other holiday in America. Diwali is right around the "holiday season" as well.

Holidays is too far away. I was hoping it would come out sooner. But I can't wait until this holiday though, this game will definitely be worth it.

this holiday? 2013? unlikely. because game is developing under a new engine and in the footage video, graphic details were stunning. I don't think current-gen consoles can handle such details. and Ubisoft doesn't develop pc exculusive games...

@ghostwarrior79 Games really don't have that high or minimum requirements to play games as long as they release on the consoles.

I wish this was coming to next gen consoles instead., the current hardware is too weak .I really did wan't  this on console but I'll just get it on PC.

Frostyballoon

@Blazed It probably will come out for the next-gen, Look at resident evil zero. It was suppose to come out on the N64 but gamecube was around the corner so it ended up on that. They probably arent saying next gen because its hush hush in the industry its Sony and Mircosofts job to show off the new console not some gaming developer

@emperiox Question is if they will actually try and make a good port. Far Cry 3 was decent, GR & AC3 was terrible.

Wasn't successful enough to warrant a third installment, according to Monolith gamers were put off by a female lead. So they made F.E.A.R

Damn shame, i loved NOLF and had a huge crush on Cate Archer.

What is this 'holiday season' people speak of? I know of no such thing. Used to be there was this thing called 'Christmas', but too many people were offended by the concept of joy and giving so now there's just a holiday. Political correctness is strangling us.

Toysoldier34
Toysoldier34

@Garnog As mentioned it is called the Holiday Season because there are many holidays that take place in a short period. The season also lasts longer than just Christmas time.

Believe it or not most people in the world don't celebrate Christmas.

RubiksGenius
RubiksGenius like.author.displayName 1 Like

@Garnog

Or some people don't believe in the roots of Christmas and don't wish to be excluded from the joy and giving. Why try to exclude them?

Serpentes420
Serpentes420

@RubiksGenius @Garnog By the roots of Christmas you mean the pagan celibration of the Winter solstice right?  Because the Christians utterly coopted it.

Garnog
Garnog

@RubiksGenius @Garnog Doesn't really matter, as long as you're spending money, which I think is the basic concept of releasing games during a block of time in which our wallets are expected to be more accessible ;)
