Does it just involve the space marines and chaos or is that just with the main story? it would have all the other races. Necrons RULE!!
THQ will bring Games Workshop's sci-fi universe to DS, PSP this fall with Squad Command.
Earlier this year, THQ announced it had signed on Vigil Games to bring the Waaagh!! invasion to the massively multiplayer online scene with an as-yet-unnamed Warhammer 40,000 MMOG. To help humanity prepare for the oncoming horde, THQ announced today Warhammer 40,000: Squad Command, a portable turn-based strategy game that centers on the conflict between the Imperium of Man and the malevolent race known as the Chaos. Squad Command will ship for the Nintendo DS and PlayStation Portable this fall.
On both handheld platforms, Squad Command will feature single-player and multiplayer modes. The single-player campaign follows the Imperium's Ultramarines over the course of 13 missions as they fend off Chaos forces.
In multiplayer mode, players will be able to join together online to compete against opponents from a worldwide pool in one of nine missions. The multiplayer mode also lets gamers play as either the Imperium or Chaos factions. According to THQ, Squad Command will fully make use of the two platforms portable functionality, including the DS's dual screens and stylus controls, but no mention was made of local or ad hoc play.
Warhammer 40,000: Squad Command has not yet been rated or priced.
Ive played it! Ive played it! Ive played it! It's good. I went to gamesday (a warhammer day thing) and they had a stall! i played the psp one and died horribly but at least i played it. it was good anyway
I'm hoping this'll be a nicer looking final liberation. That game captured the tabletop game pretty well. Even though it was epic scale based.
this game will be awesome if it has online WIFi and if ou can be more than simply Imperial or Chaos forces. personally id like to get a little Waaaaagh going.....
YES. Warhammer 40K on the DS, my ultimate dream! Sort of... But I'm still very excited XD Can't wait.
\no mention was made of local or ad hoc play. what does "ad hoc play" means. does that mean its you can play it at hotspots.
That's just creepy. I just decided to buy a DS this week for other reasons and was thinking, "Damn, I wish there was some WH 40k on there." And I log on today and WHAM there it is! And woot! for the multiplayer stuff. I'll have to make some people get it so we can play, eventho no one else I know likes WH 40k here, lol. We need more info on this and the MMO! 40k has a bright future, but getting there is taking sooo long, heh.
I bet if we could all get together with the developers, we would make one badass game. Lets hope they listen to the experts.
what about warhammer for the pc! anything for the pc soon damn it!!! not 2008!!! this year!!!!! THIS YEAR!@#!@#$!@#$!@ AAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH AAWERAWFAWE;TQ0934851-4D806-
as long as this game doesn't end up like that Age of Empires one did on the DS, it has some hope. If anything, there has to be SOME multiplayer abilities or this game is nothing more than a rental at best...
Neat? Probably yeah. But come on, people. Why must the campaign always bloody follow one variety of Space Marine or another? There are a dozen or so other factions in the universe, and it would be nice to get some time with them, you know? Learn from Relic's mistakes with the original Dawn of War campaign.
No ORKS!!!! aww...ok, chaos will have to do....blood for the blood god!!! I hope the DS version is the better one.
I just might have to pick this up... I used to love 40k back in the day (before it got too expensive to keep collecting stuff).
Sweet, although the Warhammer universe has intrigued me for a while, I haven't had the chance to play any since I'm not a PC gamer. This would give me a chance to try em out.
I would have thought that this would be the type of game for the PSP, but given the DS' critically acclaimed success and its touch screen, it makes sense for it to go to DS, too.
Eh, I'm not sure how well a Warhammer 40k MMO would do if Mythic (the current developer of Warhammer: Age of Reckoning) didn't do it. Let's face it, no one knows faction PVP better than Mythic and they're truly the only ones capable of developing a Warhammer game. Here's hoping Virgil enlists their aid. Also, Warhammer 40k on handhelds sounds interesting.
Glitchgeeman, the imperium is much much larger than the space marines, come on Inquisitors and THQ how about some space levels, battlefleet gothic and all that eh? Hawk
I think this game will actually do better and work better on the DS with it's two screens and the stylus. I'm wondering if the game will have the same content for both the DS and PSP version. Also...Dark Angels > Black Templars > Ultramarines
this game would benifit from more space and more depth. hopefully it is an rpg/third person shooter mix
sweet! My friends are really into this Warhammer business, so this would probably interest them much more
