I agree with Ronnie, 5 little maps came with game, exterminatus was "free" but it was supposed to be in game from the start. So far the only thing that will be free is CTF mode and that is nothing special. Kinda uncool is that they want to sell a bit remade exterminatus for chaos players and more importantly that they want to sell maps, which by me will split the community. I really think that when game offers so little number of maps like 5 at release then devs should add more for free so nobody would complain.
Chaos Unleashed content pack to introduce new mode and three fresh multiplayer maps for $10 in December.
Space Marine received its first piece of downloadable content last week in the free Exterminatus pack, which introduced a wave-based co-op mode. THQ today announced plans to build upon the new mode with the game's first paid DLC pack next month.
The Chaos Unleashed content pack will include a new Exterminatus mode bearing the DLC's name that puts players in the role of a Chaos Space Marine in battles against the Ork and Imperial Guard alike. Three new multiplayer maps that support all modes of play and several new co-op enemy types will also be included. The pack is set for a December release on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC for $9.99 (800 Microsoft points).
Space Marine casts players as Captain Titus of the Ultramarine chapter of the iconic Warhammer 40,000 fighting force, one of humanity's last hopes in an intergalactic war against the sinister Orks. Players are charged with defending an Imperial Forge World from the Orkish invasion, a task made more complicated when the forces of Chaos make their presence known.
A free update will ship alongside the Chaos Unleashed DLC that offers a new Capture the Flag to all players. For more on Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine, check out GameSpot's review.
urb u must be smoking some serious stuff if u think fire warrior is better than space marine. i hate people who complain about dlc even if it is paid because the money goes to more dlc development
Paying ?49.95 for this game is more than enough, not planning on paying another 10 for some dlc. Game is a real disappointment, Warhammer 40,000: Fire Warrior was a better game.
I love Relic and Space Marine. However, releasing these 3 maps should have been free. I mean come on, only 5 maps and 2 game modes on release? At best this map pack could have been free to forgive us for its shoddy release.
So many ppl QQing about the game...I dont really get it. Its pretty much what I expected it to be. They said it was a 3rd person action game, not an rpg, not an mmo. It pretty much does what they said it would. Only thing IMHO they should do is actually make other races playable. Bring out DLC for orks, eldar and tau for MP.
A poor game online and offline. I was so dissapointed with this game. Throwing out a 3 map pack for $10 is harsh, they should be giving it away, the maps the game launched with are terrible.
Or you could buy a full game for $10 from Steam/PSN/Xlive. They should either add more, or lower the price. 10$ for just 3 maps is ridiculous.
really getting sick of this stuff... Is it just me or is anyione else less inclined to buy the game new now that there is another 10 tagged on? (Which, if its actually better means vanilla player base is gone)
I bought this game for the single player only. Don't think ill get any MP DLC. Gears of War 3 does it much better ( MP )
@dxBIGBOSSxb Trust me, I had very high hopes for this game and I wanted to support it too (I hate what CoD has done to shooters) but this game turned out to be just that, another generic shooter. It's not just the multiplayer that is lackluster, the singleplayer is as well. Sure, hacking up some Orkz is fun for a while, but they could've done so much more to make it more memorable. It is the most linear game I've ever played, and I was really hoping to get in the action of some epic DoW type of battles. The multiplayer issues aren't just in the lack of modes, but the lack of creativity and that includes Exterminatus. It was very fun at first, mainly because it was cool to be a Chaos Marine, but after a while it got really repetetive. I love Warhammer 40k, but this game did it no justice I'm sorry. It had potention I'll give it that, hopefully the sequel is better...
@Sculpy You never know, they might surprise you. But at least this is giving you more bang for your buck than the completely stupid RAAM DLC for Gears. A 3 hour (At best) mini campaign, 6 character skins, and 1 gun skin for 15$, are they insane? I'll take this any day.
@SergioMX Honestly, your being a little unfair. Yes they could have added new modes to the finished product, I get that, but the modes they did add to the game (All... two of them...) worked very well. The Exterminatus mode, while pretty decent, was free and they admit to wishing they could've added it in. I honestly think we should invest our 10$, mainly because I want to support this series for it to bear a sequel that hopefully will address the issues with the game fans like (probably) you, and I are having with a lack of modes. That, and I'm getting sick of this generic mainstream crap like CoD, and Gears getting ALL the attention when potential games like these have to struggle, fight and crawl their way out of obscurity. The only reason I would consider the multiplayer as being lackluster is the lack of modes anyways, so I'm willing to give this game a chance. Everything else has been handled very well.
yes! definetely getting this 1. space marine may not have the best campaign, but its multiplayer gets what competetive should be.
This is an awesome game and the Exterminatus mode is a great addition to multiplay action for those who don't like going head to head with others. I would like this game to slowly introduce other races as playable in exterminatus and Vs mode, Introducing Eldar and making Orks Playable teaming them with chaos and eldar with SM (light vs Dark)
$10?! The multiplayer is already lackluster; they need to get creative with more modes. I mean come on, this is Warhammer, there are loads of ideas they can come up with, with a franchise so full in lore. I'll just use those $10 to buy Dawn of War 2 again...
$10 is awfully pricey for a reskinned play mode with a few new baddies and 3 new maps. Kudos on the free download, but they should offer a lot more for ten bucks.
