High Moon Studios' Transformers origin story scheduled to roll into stores for 360, PS3, Wii, DS, PC.
Transformers: War for Cybertron is ready to roll out June 22. Activision revealed the release date for its first original game based on the morphing robot series this week in a trailer offering a glimpse at the game's multiplayer modes.
While Activision has produced a number of Transformers games since it first acquired the license four years ago, those titles were directly based on the animated series or Michael Bay's big-budget feature films. War for Cybertron takes a different tack, portraying an event often referenced but rarely depicted in the brand's various treatments: the Autobot-Decepticon civil war on the robots' home planet.
Set for launch on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, DS, and PC, War for Cybertron will feature two story arcs, one with the heroic Autobots trying to save the planet, and the other with the Decepticons in destructive pursuit of power. In addition to single-player action, the game features online co-op play, as well as head-to-head multiplayer modes. A Wii version of the game is also planned but carries the title Transformers: Cybertron Adventures.
Activision entrusted development duties for War for Cybertron to High Moon Studios. Originally an internal studio for Sega Sammy, High Moon gained its independence long enough to create the horror-themed first-person shooter Darkwatch for Capcom. The studio was acquired by Vivendi Games in 2006 to make The Bourne Conspiracy and joined the Activision fold in 2008 when the two publishers merged. The developer of the previous Transformers game, Luxoflux, was closed by Activision in February.

@roddy72 True. I like it as well. But i have noticed that so many companys that makes games have this abilety to realy f*ck the game up so bad nobody wanst to buy it. Im starting to wonder if thay do that on purpes because thay hate games. I mean ffs how hard can it be to make a game that the fans love and thats realy cool to play!?
This game is probably going to be good, but the fact that Activision is publishing it, I can't help but think that they will just run it into the ground.
Lol @ the Wii version receiving a family friendly title. I really hope this turns out to be a good game. I'll be happy if it does and I'll buy my copy. I really doubt it will live up to it's potential, though.
@The_Dude1212 The wii has neither the power nor the audience to pull off what they are trying to do with the xbox/ps3/pc versions, which is why they would make it a different kind of game.
I love the way (and I'm guilty of this too!) if a game that looks good that we want - we (gamer community) kind of conveniently "forget" that it's from someone like Activision or EA or whoever... and I have to say... I hate Activision and everything they stand for, but, my childhood love for Transformers wins every time... :)
I'm interested, but with such a retarded name like 'Cybertron Adventurez', fts. I ain't pre-ordering it if they won't treat all game consoles with equal respect. I'll wait for the reviews to call out on it.
It'd rule if War for Cybertron turns out to be the Arkham Asylum of Transformer games. Watching this one with great interest.
Cybertron Adventures... LMAO!!! Thank god I own a real console, no offense to Wii boys ofcoarse. Either way, I hope this game turns out well for everyone, because we all want to finally own a Real Tranformers game that is worthy of what it represents.
I guess 'Cybertron Adventures' sounds more family friendly than 'War for Cybertron'...goodness. And third parties wander why their Wii games don't do well--just look at the marketing and branding!
This might do it as a true Transformers game--especially now that you can make your own Transformer for multiplayer.
I'm really hoping this turns out to be a great game, the movie tie ins failed to capture the true essence of Transformers for me.
Well Im not liking activision for whats going on with their greed of power, but I am definitely buying this game. This part of the sttory always intrigued me. Plus creating your own character for online play is just awesome. I wont be buying much games from activision but this one is a must have.
Looking forward to this. I hope it has local multiplayer. If it doesn't, I'll just have to settle for (hopefully) an awesome single player :)
I swear to god this one better not have all those retarded "Timed" missions. I hate those missions with a stupid clock countdown. Almost as bad as an escort mission.
I can be a Decepticon and an Autobot!!!!!!!!!!!! So now there will be 2 crappy campaigns instead of 1!!!!!!!! Hooray.
this will probably be the last game published from activision i ever purchase. i will just white out the activision logo though
