Why is he smiling? He has won millions of awards for how horrible he is, so what is this bulls***?
Uwe Boll gets Razzie nod
Infamous director of game-based films gets a Golden Raspberry nomination for Worst Director, thanks to Alone in the Dark.
Each February, the film industry honors its best and brightest by unveiling the nominations for the Academy Awards, otherwise known as the Oscars. Around the same time, the worst films of the year are nominated for the Golden Raspberry Awards, otherwise known as the Razzies.
One of this year's nominees is infamous for his critically lambasted film adaptations of games. For his 2005 thriller Alone in the Dark, based on the horror-action series, German director Uwe Boll garnered a Worst Director nomination. His competition in the category includes: John Asher (Dirty Love), Jay Chandrasekhar (The Dukes of Hazzard), Nora Ephron (Bewitched), and Lawrence Gutterman (Son of the Mask).
But even if Boll doesn't get the not-so-coveted award on Saturday, March 4, he will likely have another chance next year. His latest game-to-film project, BloodRayne, was poorly received by critics and audiences last month.
Boll is currently filming his big-screen take on Dungeon Siege, titled In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale, starring Burt Reynolds and Matthew Lillard. He also owns the film rights to the Far Cry franchise.
