Though the PlayStation 3 version of Epic Games' Unreal Tournament 3 will most likely be stuck in development purgatory until 2008, all systems remain go for the anticipated shooter's PC appearance in November. With that date quickly approaching, gamers can run through their paces in an online multiplayer demo, which is now available through GameSpot. The free trial contains three maps and modes for deathmatch, team deathmatch, and vehicle capture-the-flag play. For those seeking to avoid online embarrassment, the demo also allows for computer-controlled opponents.
While Xbox 360 owners have already had a chance to scout out Call of Duty 4's multiplayer modes, PC owners can now take a tour of the single-player campaign with a one-level demo. For those wondering if their rigs are up to snuff for Activision's modern-warfare shooter, Infinity Ward has also revealed the game's recommended and required specs.
For optimal play, the game requires 2.4GHz dual core CPU, 1GB of RAM (2GB for Vista), 8GB of hard drive space, and an Nvidia GeForce 7800 or ATI Radeon X1800 or better GPU. Alternatively, the game's minimum specifications call for at least a 2.4GHz Pentium 4 or AMD 2800+ CPU, 512MB of RAM (768MB for Vista), 8GB of hard drive space, and an Nvidia GeForce 6600 or ATI Radeon 9800 Pro or better GPU.
Shooter fans who enjoy ripping holes in space-time with their running and gunning can also check out a demo for Sierra's TimeShift. While Sierra didn't explicitly lay out the contents of the free trial, the publisher did note that players will get a good idea of the game's distinguishing time-manipulation mechanic. TimeShift phases into this plane of reality on October 30 for the PC.
the COD4 demo was alot of fun, needed some more eb and flow to it i felt like the mission pace was a little two fast and they through objectives at you in a fassion that wasn't as clear as in previous games. i feel a mission should last about a hour and that one was only half a hour but maybe it caries over. the new timeshift demo better be better than the last one.
ok here's the funny thing epic unlike bungie never tried to formulate this media blitze promoting ut3 as a game full of innovation it's just another deathmatch based game, a good deathmatch game extrapolates out into a fantastic CTF shooter and more. no it isn't ut2004 tweaked and rebalanced weapons new player movement removal of adrenaline, new and improved level design. a new singleplayer. a new gamemode good vehicle CTF. a huge face lift. one major problem i noticed in the demo that was present in ut2004 was a level design short fall in vehicle levels open and boring levels to allow for vehicle movement while not accomodating infantry combat. but it's just one level maybe they'll fix it.
the first UT was one of my best games ever and its a shame the UT3 demo didnt work for me but CoD 4 is *%$
Just played the UT3 demo. Chaa...I have this game already and its called UT2004. anyway... *Goes back to Quake 3 *
ut3 demo don't look good because look they lack alot of video option, is ure full game will look but of course require monster game rig to run it.
The COD4 demo scales amazingly well, im running it with a good frame rate on a 2800 CPU, 1gb Ram and a Nvidia 6200LE 128mb gfx card. Great stuff.
Whoa, three awesome games. Am I the only one impressed with how sweet looking and awesome timeshift is to play? After all its been through i figured it would suck, but the graphics are pretty sweet and its fun to shoot and blow stuff up. Whee!!!!
nightmarex- Why are you comparing a PC to a console, they're both are great in what they do....idiot!
I agree, TimeShift is the truly awesome game. But UT3 is still old good UT and it's still top notch charming. I will be getting both of them :)
UT noob......... speechless!!! GOD DAMN!!....... that robot in UT3 :O !!! FLOORED ME! JUST AWESOME ! :), nice brooding/dark sound effects too ! VERY GOOD
Man, I am just burnt out on games... I played the CoD4 beta right up unitl halo3 then I just played on every difficulty and tried ranking up, got orange box on thursday and havent even touched half life yet. and now there are demos for CoD 4 and unreal 3... Ima esplode with teh goodzness! I love this time of year but I think there are just too many releases.
Holy mother...all 3 of these demos are absolutely incredible. CoD4 is so intense, UT3 is just a blast and Time Shift is not only shocking, but the most combat engaging/visceral experience since playing FEAR for the first time. Great great games...I have to pick up all three. Now to wait for the Crysis SP demo. Sick.
CoD4 - AI is too much scripted UT3 - nothing more than a visual refresh of ut2004 TimeShift - haven't played it yet As for the weekend, it went for quantity, not quality...
COD 4 is pretty sad. Every single one of them is worse. UT4 is exactly like Starcraft 2. Same thing, but it's about time. I will try TimeShift now.
Call of Duty 4 is going to be so freaking sweet. It is now at the top of my list for games coming out this year. Unreal Tournament 3 was good, but was definitely not as impressive. Also played the Ratchet and Clank demo, which was also awesome.
It only remains the Crysis and Gears of Wars PC demos...that will be released this October for sure...
"UT3 was utter crap. COD4 was more of the same." I tend to agree with you there bluebillybob. Im somewhat dissapointed with both of these games. I thought they were supposed to be new games but they both play like previous versions of themselves. i was having flashbacks to UT2003 playing the deathmatch in UT3.
The graphics in UT3 are fugly. They didn't include any of the high end options in the demo. I wanted to crank it up on my new computer with vista, but I guess I'll have to wait for a full demo. The game is a blast though.
CoD 4 was awesome My computer still isn't good enough to play it with the same kind of look though Maybe I could play around a bit and make the 360 my super computer hahaha
Dissapointed by the COD 4 Demo, with everyrhing on high I was not impressed, and the gameplay didn't blow me away either as for the UT III Demo, damn both graphics and gameplay are excelent :p
CoD 4 was fantastic, shame it didn't include a multiplayer. downloading UT3 as i type, it has to be said these PC demos + those released on XBLMP its been a very good week.
ok ppl remember the cod 4 demo is capped at medium setting so dont whine if u dont find the graphics up to par with the vids cause lotsa ppl dont kno that they have not put the high textures in the demo to reduce its size
totally agreed dundee86, I also played the 360 beta of call of duty 4 and was just ****ing kicka** and I can't wait for the full game. AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH! I CAN'T WAIT!
