What we heard: Speculation is mounting that Sony will soon reveal the 250GB PlayStation 3 it secretly tested with the Federal Communications Commission earlier this year. Reports out of Europe have said that, besides a potential DVR "movie" package, the supersized console will be bundled with one of several games: Gran Turismo 5, Assassin's Creed II, FIFA 10, and Uncharted 2: Among Thieves.

Now, tech blog Engadget has published an image purportedly of the 250GB PS3 Uncharted 2 bundle, sans price. Besides looking convincing, the image bears the imprint of a T for Teen rating from the Entertainment Software Ratings Board, which rates games for release only in the US and Canada. If authentic, the art would be the first indicator since the original FCC filing that the 250GB PS3 will be released in North America.

The official story: "As you know, we do not discuss speculative rumors." -- Sony Computer Entertainment America rep.

Bogus or not bogus?: While anything's possible with PhotoShop, the packaging looks legit, with screens from the game on the side and the logos in all the appropriate places. So if it's a fake, it's a well-crafted fake.

However, if the box is real, it begs the question--when will Sony unveil the 250GB Uncharted 2 bundle? Though Uncharted 2 doesn't come out until October 13, the most likely occasion is at next week's Tokyo Game Show, where Sony Computer Entertainment CEO Kaz Hirai will give a keynote address tentatively titled "Sony Computer Entertainment 2009 Strategy". GameSpot will be live-blogging the event, which begins at 10:30 a.m. on September 24 Tokyo Time and 6:30 p.m. September 23 Pacific Daylight Time (US).

    True big industries have a hold on games and movies. But, big industries had hold on music, and look how that turned out! now we have itunes and huge music industries going bankrupt. Netflix has started with downloadable movies from home, not to mention all the internet based ones. As soon as one company starts doing it, the rest will fall into motion, I know the future is hard to grasp, but look at history to help explain the future. In this case music is history, movies are the present(which you can get on demand) and video games are the future. (not sure why my pm msg sent me here)

    While this bundle looks undeniably beastly, I really need another controller. And if this rumor isn't true, Sony would make it true after seeing how everyone is reacting to it.

    the picture is totally fake. look at the box itself. the top angle of the box doesn't match with the bottom angle. ive learned this in my 6th grade art class the angles of a box have to be the same.

    If its $300, I'll buy it. I have a fat already, and I adore it. I'd love to have the slim for its lower power usage and quieter, but if its not $300, I'll just pass till next year.

    for me is a reality, after the moderm warfare 2 bundle they need an opposite bundle and uncharted 2 is a game that will rock,so is a good choice

    I have a 500 GIG HDD on my 60 gig launch ps3 I'm quite happy with it. I don't think I'll be getting this version of ps3. BUT, I will get the game..

    Ooook. I have barely used my 120GB PS3, what am I going to do with a 250GB PS3? It would be nice if Sony would start putting out some good RPG's or something so my PS3 isn't a really expensive Blu-Ray Player.

    it is a fake. 2 reasons.

    1. if you have seen other bundles (metal gear and other uncharted) they dont use the game cover as prominate box art. it usual looks like a regular ps3 with the game case on it.

    2. my ps3 slim box says "120 GB/GO" this says "250 GB" it should say "250 GB/GO"

    and yes i am in America so its not a foreign ps3.

You just decided to add your worthless pennies into cyber space. Is your life so hopeless that in order to fill your empty void you wait until there's a topic of 360/PS3 on game sites to jump into some sort of feel good argument? Pretty sad dude.     Also if you don't already have Batman: AA I'd get that on the PS3 b'coz you can please Joker and he's brilliant.

    Cheers, i've been watching some of the vids for infamous and resistance 2, both look wet your pants gorgeous and i've played killzone 2 and socom on my bros PS3, not to sure about socom, probably cos i'm not used to the controller, but Killzone 2 looked lush. I think come pay day (24th) i'll be splashing out on a new toy. The only thing is, is it worth waiting to see if they come out with these 250GB bundles, I've heard you can use third party harddrives so does it really matter that much.

    in my opinion the best ps3 bundle that could blow any one's mind would be the 250 GB hard drive, 1 controller(not a problem), 4 games God of War 3, Uncharted 2, Heavy Rain, Killzone 2

    True, it is a similar problem, but it is easily fixed, not that many systems get it compared to the RROD, and none of the non B/C models as far as I know have ever got it. Only the ones that had B/C have ever got the YLOD. I believe Sony has fixed the issue now.

    There's Uncharted 2 coming out on the 13th of next month. MAG, which has 256 players in one match comes out January 26. God of War III comes out in March. Modnations Racers, which is pretty much a fully customizable HD Mario Kart comes out next year. Little Big Planet is already out and it's pretty good. Infamous is also a pretty good open world city game, it is already out.

    Those are just a couple of exclusives I could think off of my head.

    Seriously thinking about getting a PS3 slim to go with my Xbox Elite, i just need to justify the £250 it will cost me. I don't know much about Sony's game line-up so, apart from KZ2 (i've played it and know its good) what good exclusives are available or will be soon. P.S. i don't need to hear fanboys telling how much better it is than Xbox, ill make up my own mind thx (i'm more than capable of reading the specs), plus you won't get commission if i do buy one.

    I agree with you on everything, except that Halo is good only for MP. I myself really enjoy the campaign of Halo games. They always have a great narrative IMO. Some of the animations for character models, mainly the faces, don't look that great, but the voice acting is solid most of the time and I just love the story of Halo. I can't wait to get my hands on ODST myself. Getting all of the achievements is going to be hard though. Beating a campaign level on legendary without using grenades or a gun seems pretty hard.

    First off those were the older original systems. The current systems don't get the YLOD. Also the PS3 has a 10% failure rate while you console has a 30% failure rate. Who's moaning now. For every one PS3 that breaks three 360s break.

    i feel like a cave man, I can barely fill up even 120GB, and condelirios mentioned a 750GB drive! geez. I wonder how long it will take to stop updating the systems and just make the next generation consoles, I'd rather Sony and/or MS stop the updates after the big title are out and make a new one already.. even though the PS3 hasn't been out for too long at all

    It is a fact that Uncharted 2 looks better than any gaming console game out there. How about you stop being an Xbot and actually accept that the PS3 exclusives look better then 360 exclusives.

    If the 360 wasn't around or was discontinued the PS3 would still get the stuff it is getting. It would have Bluray because Sony is pushing their new format. It isn't to compete with the 360 it is to show that Bluray is a lot better then normal DVD and it is the future of physical media. They put Bluray in the PS3 because they new it would allow them to make the best gaming system out there. Not to just compete with the 360. The graphic aren't arguably better. They ARE better. Uncharted 2 won best graphics at E3 from multiple websites and companies. That means it had better graphics than any 360 game that was shown. All bigger 360 games that are coming out anytime soon were shown at E3. This means Uncharted 2 looks better then all of them. Fanboys like you can deny it as long as you want, but Uncharted 2 looks better than any game you have or will ever have on your 360. The 360 isn't powerful enough to run games that are at the PS3's graphical quality. The PS3 can already go up to 500GB for just a $100 more. There is no need for Sony to make it because unlike M$ they don't force people to buy their products that add on to their systems.

    Sony would still have cut the price because $250 and $600 is a big difference. Even $250 and $400 is. The PS3 wouldn't be selling well to the Wii even if it was the ONLY HD console out there. Sony would still have cut the price to $300 because just look at what is going on right now. Hardly anyone is buying the Wii because now it looks over priced. For only $50 people can get a console that does more than any other console out there.

    Bundles aren't really necessary. I myself don't like them that much. I don't buy them as long as I have the system already. They come out just to push sales. IMO this bundle would only be awesome if it was $350. $400 IMO would be too much for me. I don't need a 250GB HDD and if I ever need to change out I'll just get a 500GB one.

    I myself do hate the 360, but I still play it some when I feel like it. The ONLY exclusive game that I like on the 360 are the Halo games. I'm picking up Halo ODST on Tuesday. Halo is the ONLY reason I even have a 360. Halo just rocks. The gameplay is unlike any other game. It is just a lot of fun to play, but I prefer my PS3 more. The exclusives on the PS3 are just better then 360 exclusives. Gears 2 was supposed to be a great game, but it turned out to be Lag of War 2.

    For people who don't own a PS3 or XBox 360, the best time to buy them will be when these bundles happen. I'm still hoping that XBox Elite 360 bundle with the Wifi Adapter include, comes to US. It was only in Canada. I don't remember the store, but there was a link on the site. I think it came with a game as well, all for $349. The site didn't say it ships to U.S. M$ should do a $429 bundle with 250GB XBox 360, wifi adapter, Modern Warfare 2, extra controller and 3 months of free XBox Live. That would be a good deal for the holidays.

    It's exactly these kind of debates which make me want to know how many Arcade versions get sold.

    Because if all you want to do is sit down and play a game...that's all you need for $200. And that is also why I have a second 360 at the cottage...why pay for all the stuff you don't need or can't use.

    yeah it is getting kinda silly, but if you read best buy adds, they always have their own bundles if you buy like a TV, a PS3, and speakers you get a big discount (already costs like $1999 so whatever), but yeah i always laugh when i see that!

    I have no need for this as I own the 60GB PS3 with lots of memory still and PS2 B/C. I did pre-order Uncharted 2 though, so I'm all set. I wonder if this will be $299 still or $349? My last questions, does it come with an extra dual-shock controller? I see a LOT of bundles before the holidays in the near future.

    Yes, (4 is silly) but if a system needs 2 controllers to play sure you should add that into the cost. People don't usually because the Xbox and PS3 controllers cost the same so its pointless, but yeah you really do need 2 controllers to play a system correctly, (4 is over the top, most games dont even support it). But that is a big negative point on the Wii, Wii is actually very expensive for what it is because they do not even give you ONE controller in the box, only half (in order to play MANY Wii games you need the nunchuk, and that's extra). So you may get a game and a Wii for Xmas and realize you gotta go out and but more controller just to play.

    @EmperorSupreme - I see exactly what your saying.. some people just dont realize how things can add up over time. My other annoyance is the argument that many xbots cling so dearly to.. that supposedly Sony is making gamers "pay for things they dont want". Seriously already people.. how the hell is Sony making us pay for Blu-Ray and Wi-Fi when the PS3 and XBOX are the same damn price/ Like squidracerX already alluded to.. things like Wi-Fi are FREE on the PS3.
