Unreal Engine adds Flash support

Quite impressive.

It seems they may be trying to compete with/one-up id's Quake Live...?

Wow. This is an amazing achievement. Will definitely help a lot of people in making bigger and better browser based games.

A friend of mine is getting his Master's in game design this year, I'm sure this made him soil himself with joy. I should call him and find out.

@WandrianWvlf Um...What're you running it on? My old Pentium 4 runs UT3 at low/medium smoothly... UE3 runs very well.

Does that mean that I would have to get the new Flash just to make 3D games? Well I would love to make a Zelda style game on Unreal Engine but I think I would wait until the actionscript code become more established before I try it out.

I'd really think something to improve the kind of framerates UE3 drops down to would be a higher priority than this. Oh well.

You don't see HTML5 doing that.

This is going to take flash gaming to a whole new level. Well at least for people that have a decent gaming rig.

Kind of cool. I'm distracted by Unreal Tournament though. I'd kill for another one of similar quality to UT2004.

Havent you guys seen N.O.V.A on facebook? it looks similar to this, you should play it it is a great multiplayer game.

@SSJSasuke10 no. Flash still uses your own CPU to "do stuff" + your GPU (Flash 11 finally adds GPU support). This move will allow more flexibility(multiplatform, running the game inside a browser..). @shinspikes This is NOT cloud gaming - read above.

Does that mean that if they made a BF3 like game for Flash using UE3, I would be able to play it on a PC that isn't meant for gaming?

i dnt see wats all the excitment is about my only interest is in reall games,am talking AAA here or something you can play on a screen larger than you head anything else i will only play if its free

I have always wondered just how efficient the Flash API is compared to openGL and D3D. If they can get it to run on an Ipad or an android tablet and have it look just as good as its PC counter part then id say flash is very efficient.

Epic's amount of epicness is off the charts after this one. They kick ass.
