"Try before you buy," is an age-old marketing slogan--and one that applies to three high-profile games this week. Today, Sony announced that it has released the multiplayer demo to Uncharted 2: Among Thieves via the PlayStation Store. The 1.3GB demo will feature four maps, four competitive modes, and two co-op modes from Naughty Dog's PlayStation 3-exclusive adventure, due out on October 13 in North America.
Xbox 360 owners won't be left totally empty-handed, though, because 2K Sports today launched the demo for NBA 2K10 on Xbox Live. It will feature the two teams from June's 2009 NBA Finals--the Los Angeles Lakers and the Orlando Magic--squaring off in a virtual Staples Center in Los Angeles. (In real life, the Lakers won the series 4-1.) As outlined in GameSpot's recent preview, NBA 2K10 will feature improved graphics and presentation, new Signature Style animations (see below), and a number of new features. The game is due out on October 6 for the 360 and PS3*, which will be getting its own PlayStation Network demo "shortly," according to 2K Sports.
On Thursday, both PS3 and Xbox 360 owners will get a chance to slide into the driver's seat of Electronic Arts' Need for Speed Shift. The test-drive of the decently reviewed reboot of the once-mighty racing franchise will feature four cars: the BMW M3 (E46), the 2008 Dodge Viper SRT10, the 2006 Lotus Elise 111R, and the 2008 Nissan GT-R. A fifth, the 2006 Pagani Zonda F, will be unlockable to those who display prowess on the demo's two tracks: a tight London river circuit and Formula One's Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps track in Belgium.
*= A PC edition of NBA 2K10 drops October 12, with a Wii version due October 19.

I agree wtih Harp_101, I can't stop playing the uncharted demo it is so freaking addicting which is bad because I have midterms coming up.

The Uncharted demo is one of the most addicting games i have ever played, and it's not even the full game! Right now I'm supposed to be doing research but can't help but to think about. I feel like going down stairs and playing it right now. Sadly that's not an option since I don't want to fail my classes.

@3Z3KL13L08 It's simply; - Without spaces. :-) @SimonB1195 If I had a beta code for MAG, I'd be very happy, because I'm looking forwards to play it, but being happier is hard now that I can play Uncharted 2 Multiplayer Beta, which is one of the best I've played. :-)

Does anyone think that Uncharted 2 multiplayer has any resemblence to Gears. I think that's a great think and the PS3 will sell more because of this game. Must buy if you have a PS3.

@- xFL4Wl3SSx how can you say that its the only good game on the ps3? i have the beta for mag and uncharted and both are superb. Im starting to think that MAG is better than cod 4 multiplayer and uncharted online is just superb. PS3 has a way better line up for exclusives

Lol, I suppose in this case 360 owners DO get shorthanded because they DON'T get to try Uncharted, but get a sports game instead. (I just made many angry, lol.)

last night, @1 am PST, 4 am EST, there were 6000 people , and even if it didnt mean at the moment, I had no trouble finding matches the two times I tried ....

Dirt 2 is a WAY better game than Shift. Not to say shift sucks or anything harsh like that, but it definitely lacks depth compared to Dirt 2. Shift is a really pretty game, but it lacks the right amount of substance to go with the pretty graphics. Great first effort though, and looking forward to the next game in the series.
