UK supermarket Asda slashes Wii U price for a second time

Dear Nintendo: cut the price to $99 and get some games on the market I actually want to play that I can't already play on my 360 and PS3. And, no, yet another JRPG or shitty Final Fantasy isn't going to cut it.

The WiiU is a giant bag of fail for so many reasons. Price point too high, under-powered vs current gen let alone next gen, name recognition issues (too close to Wii), Global Recession, no games at launch, still no major 1st party system-seller games several months after launch, etc.... There is literally nothing that makes me want to buy a Wii U...and I think that's the main problem for most gamers who haven't bought one yet.  If Nintendo is saying it's "different", well then OK cool...but my question is, "Just because it's different doesn't mean shit. Why the hell should I buy it?"

Wii U's unique controller might be what deprives 3rd party games.

WiiU is failing,doesn't take a genius to figure that out.

Only sheeps can't see that coming because they're too busy giving their wools even though they get nothing in return. Plus sheeps are loud and annoying so they can't here themselves actually think.

The Wii wasn't even on par with it's own generation, how fucking long do we have to wait for Nintendo to release an actual HD console.

Age of IP isn't the problem, it's the time between releases. No innovation in the fundamental games like Metroid.

Can't even count the amount of classic games that would be good with a modern update. How long are they going to wait?

The biggest issue with this is actually the name... Call it the Nintendo Revolution or Nintendo X or ANYTHING to make customers believe it's different.. And give it a completely different casing too.. I guarantee if they didn't release this console they would have sold around the same amount of Wii's in that time.. Fair enough, you may sell more in the next 12 months due to the release of games people actually wanted e.g. Mario, Zelda etc etc... But they brought this upon themselves as soon as Reggie stepped onto that stage at E3 2012 and officially announced this console

This just screams to me that ASDA bought a whole load of stock and can't shift it :/

I must admit the WiiU console design is very good. Really a nice looker.

they only have the damn basic model and they only ship to UK :(

The 360 is less powerful than the PS3, so there's absolutely NOTHING  that Microsoft can do to save it. 

That white console called the Wii-U looks ALOT like my old Sega Dreamcast.  And like its parent company, Nintendo will probably fall just as hard.

Hmm interesting, i'll wait a couple more months and hopefully there will be another price cut then i'd probably buy a WiiU along with a copy of Lego city.

Still sad news for Nintendo though, I really think they should have held onto the WiiU and developed it more and allowed better games to be produced for it instead of all this weak ports it has avaliable now.

Will the wiiU be abandoned quicker than Sega dropped the Dreamcast I wonder...

I'm not interested in PS4, it sucks. I mean, Sony said absolutely nothing good about the console.   

I would consider picking one up for like $100 tops if it actually had games that interest me.

With the rumours of the PS4 launch price, I think they're going to have to cut it down significantly further than that.

I'm at the point where I really can't think why I'd want one.

Maybe if it was £100 for the Premium version I'd think about it.

Anyway, I'm sticking with the PC.  I think I'm just too used to the luxuries of it to ever move to consoles.

I'm assuming that is the British Sterling Pound, which would have the equivalence of $230.95 U.S.  So the premium model debuted at $463.45 U.S.!!  No wonder it hasn't been selling well over there, they're getting shafted!

What did Halo ever do for gaming? 

I think the retailer was in a rush. Two price cuts in about half a year? That's too soon. Gamers don't buy a WiiU not because it's expensive but because it needs more appealing games at this point. The console still needs time to reach its true potential.

Sony should get out of the video game business because they done nothing for gaming

Still even with the price drop I don't see any games that I want now or in the immediate future.

Well it's Nintendo just like the last 30 years heres a Mario and Zelda game to the rescue.

I actually played a WiiU at Gamestop today and simply wasn't impressed.  The graphics didn't look much better than the Wii.  The tablet screen looked like a bigger 3DS screen without 3D.  I played New Super Mario U, and it was pretty much exactly the same as the Wii game.  It's really just not a great console.  It's a piece of shit.
