Brothers in Arms and Splinter Cell Essentials headed for Sony's portable as publisher posts improved numbers over last year.
French publisher Ubisoft has posted its financial results for the first half of its fiscal year (April 2005 through September 2005), and the report has some interesting tidbits for gamers and investors alike.
For gamers, Ubisoft's report included a release schedule for the company's fourth quarter (January 2006 through March 2006), which held a few surprises. Foremost among the surprises were listings for an installment of the tactical military shooter Brothers in Arms on the PSP, an Xbox 360 version of Blazing Angels, and another, as-yet-unannounced 360 game. A PSP version of 187 Ride or Die is also on the list, though it's only scheduled for a European release under the name Street Riders. Conspicuous by their absence were the Xbox 360 version of Splinter Cell 4 (working title) and the GameCube edition of Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter.
On the business side of things, the company again touted its increased revenue during the year's first two quarters and noted that it has managed to halve its net debt in the last year. It still lost money for the half, 11.3 million euros ($13.4 million), but not nearly as much as it did for the same period last year, when the company lost 32.9 million euros ($38.9 million).
"Ubisoft saw progress in all of its performance indicators and is today a major player in the video game industry," company CEO Yves Guillemot said in a statement. He later added, "With major game launches scheduled, fiscal year 2005-2006 could well be an outstanding year. The sustained investments that we have done over the past several years, together with the acclaimed quality of our games will make it possible for us to take advantage of every possible growth opportunity presented by the new consoles."
To gurgol, Montreal and Quebec French, knucklehead. Not in France, but Montreal and Quebec are French territory,
I would also like to know which systems Beyond Good & Evil 2 will be on. I hope they have a PC version again.
BIA may work for the PSP.....I would make it more like Full Spectrum Warrior. Move them, tell which ones to flank ( And where to flank ) to cover you. But i would add a mode you can dunk, aim, shoot and reload( But you do not actually move around. ) Ah w/e, they'll find a way.
It is IRONIC that EA buys some of Ubisoft's stocks trying to own some percentage of Ubisoft (hopefully not their profit) Hopefully they not trying to buy them as I don't trust EA when they buy franchises/companies... Changine James Bond to crap, and buying NFL and NCAA licenses only to have no competition and them the only choice for a NFL game is lame, (if you are going to steal a franchise/license at least make it more depth and better then what your ex-competition was doing, ESPN 2k5 had some nice features that will never be used again and James Bond should have NEVER left Rare's hands, NEVER.) Ubisoft once a medicore company is now one of the underrated top dogs in gaming; expanding in even China where the last Splinter Cell was made. (and probably the next gen one) Prince of Persia, Splinter Cell 4, and this unannonced game for 360 will be great; I don't know about Brother In Arms, I never liked this series, Liked Call of Duty always more IMO. (I don't think a new Prince of Persia will be out, The Two Thrones seems to be the finale to make it a Trilogy, maybe a spinoff or a side story...)
POP for PS3 would be so sweet just imagine all the sweet new levels and the graphics and.....and.... o god its to awesome to imagine!!!
Farcry 2 for PC was shown to developpers at PDC 2005 but only to some members of the audience and no video was allowed to ba taken out of there. It was a microsoft Speech for DirectX10 and the new Crytech/Farcry engine was the techdemo for the presentation. With XNA behind it, it's only a short matter of time before they announce it both for PC and X360. You guys can find that video on the net but it's pretty hard to find and the quality sucks. But man i can't wait for DX10 and all those effects!
I tend to stay away from Ubisoft because of thier use of Starforce technology. I will continue to keep that distace, thank you very much.
I NEED my splinter cell 4 and beyond good and evil 2. now. and please don't screw up your brothers in arms license by putting it on the PSP. please.
Great news, Ubisoft has a school and an office here in Montreal and they always make me proud when I see a Tom Clancy game or a Prince of Persia one. Go Ubi !
RUNNERGUNNER480**** They said the same thing about Jak and Daxter and Ratchet and Clank, but we magically received fourth installments of those games...no "trilogy" is ever final. They can always continue the story if they want...
For those of you asking for Prince of Persia sorry to say that The Two Thrones was the last one and glad to see Ubisoft is pretty good as far as money goes but they should have more money than that there on the top of there game right now im worried seeing they didnt say anything about SC 4.
caesarbites Where is my Prince of Persia 4 for the 360? crazy_boy166 i just hope they make another prince of persia for 360.I would be frekin sick PRINCE OF PERISIA WAS A TRILOGY. NO MORE ARE GOING TO BE MADE!!!
