Ubisoft posts Q4 revenues
French publisher's quarterly sales sink by more than a third, but industrywide malaise allows it to increase market share.
Ubisoft has released its financial results for its fourth quarter (ended March 31, 2006), and the news is mixed for the French publisher. On the one hand, it increased its market share in the US, UK, and France by an average of 1 percent. On the other hand, its overall sales dropped by more than a third from the same quarter the year before, from 219 million euros ($277 million) to 144 million euros ($182 million).
Ubisoft attributed the gains in market share to the performance of its first three Xbox 360 games: Peter Jackson's King Kong: The Official Game of the Movie, Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter, and Blazing Angels: Squadrons of WWII. Ghost Recon in particular sold more than 1.6 million copies for the publisher, with roughly half of them being the Xbox 360 version of the game.
In a statement accompanying the results, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot stressed the importance of the publisher's establishing a foothold on the Xbox 360. "The tremendous success of Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter confirms our ability to be at the forefront on new consoles," Guillemot said. "It should support Ubisoft's financial performance during the coming fiscal year, as we expect the Microsoft Xbox 360, Sony PS3, and Nintendo Revolution installed base to ramp up rapidly."
For the full year, Ubisoft posted a 3 percent increase in revenues, from 532 million euros ($672 million) to 547 million euros ($691 million).
i love ubisoft
Ubisoft has the greatest kind of games, their very innovative, and thats one of the things thats helping them out.
hell yea!!!
Just watch them jump another 5 percent when Splinter Cell hits.
this year will be very good for them since they are developing on the wii
oops. maybe they'll make some $$$ if they publish crysis.
i heart ubisoft
i wish i can have the money
Its good to see the games selling but wish they would have sold more for them.
thats what happends
oh oui ubi
Ubisoft is one of the best :D
Everybody's going downhill, so it's just normal that Ubisoft follows the flow.
Well as far as thier PC games are concerned they will probably now have increasing sales in the future as I think alot people liked thier games but didn't want to mess with Star Force. However since they have dropped them,.........should be new customers,.or returning of old ones.
Just make a new Prince of Persia and earn a lot of money.
Ubi and Bethesda are the only two companies I've seen that actually made true "next-gen" titles. Congrats Ubi!
:~
ok.
Ubisoft is the one!!!!!
Ya! Go Ubisoft! They are my 2nd fav game company behind the big N and *sigh* their wii
good luck ubi...
Fourth quarter? Isnt it the First one up until March 31st???
great...they have money cause they sell games. I f we must find that interesting, Nintendo made 801 million dollars last year, IN PROFIT. this is 600 million in revenue. so i don't care about this, and if i did than i would be more interested in nintendo.
Sorry Ubisoft but its Nintendo Wii. O.K
They are on the right track...but I don't see supporting Nintendo gaining them any money... (See most or all Ubisoft games on GC)
[QUOTE]dont they mean nintendo wii?[QUOTE]Wii! Everyone loves that name! JUST KIDDING!
They better not think that a few games will get them anywhere, cuz 360 is not that popular.
well ubisoft's getting up there
800k copies of GRAW 360... that's a bonus profit of $8 million with the Next-Generation tax. It's like a pinball multiplier! Good show old chaps, what what.
NO !!! in our hearts its still called the Revolution
ubisoft is awesome! love their stuff they publish :D
Any new threats by EA to take them over?
Hmm GRAW helped them a lot I bet
well that sounds like.... this news is just analyst info
whole lota money. (closest to top ever :-) )
There's a version coming for Nintendo's next-gen system called "Blazing Angels: Squadrons of Wii". Har har.
Why not give some profit figures?
dont they mean nintendo wii?
