Turok 2 Gets Closer
New details are revealed on Acclaim's sequel to its top-selling N64 game.
Details on the sequel to Turok: Dinosaur Hunter have been sketchy at best. The game has sold very well in the US, easing Acclaim's financial pain. Of course, when a company has a top-seller on its hands, a sequel is surely waiting in the background. Turok 2 will add Rumble Pak compatibility, and will use the "hot swap" technique to be able to use the N64 memory cart as well. Iguana is working to make sure that the Rumble Pak is used not only to register hits, but also to make players feel the roar of a nearby T-Rex.
The graphics are also being improved so that the game looks even more realistic than the first. Advanced lighting routines and effects are being implemented, the graphics engine is being smoothed. Iguana is working on giving the game's characters and enemies a "soft-skinned" look, which will make the characters look more real and less like they're made up of polygons.
At this time, it isn't known whether Turok 2 will have a multiplayer option. However, if the game follows the same line as other first-person perspective action games on the N64, it's a good possibility. When the game is released in mid to late 1998, all will be known. Until then, we can just watch and listen for more information on what's sure to be the hottest third-party N64 game of 1998.
