While DDO uses Dungeons and Dragons rules that permit it to slightly break the norm, what would be better is no reoccuring quests beyond those that would obviously be standing regardless of numerous player sieges. A D&D MMO in its most obvious functional form have five "origin sites" at each level grouping (1-3, 4-6, 7-9, 10-13, 14-17, 18-20, 21+) and reactive encounters within the city itself that adjust to mass and individual character behavior and achievements. The poorly implemented version of mission/quest assignments is really out of style. The only reason it would be used is due to malicious greed on behalf of the design company.
Turnover at Turbine
Studio behind massively multiplayer Lord of the Rings and Dungeons & Dragons games gets a new-look management staff.
In 2001, massively multiplayer online game developer Turbine snagged Jeffrey Anderson, previously a vice president with Ultima Online creator Origin Systems, to run its operations as president and CEO. Anderson's run at the helm of Turbine has come to an end, as the studio today introduced its new president and CEO, Jim Crowley.
Crowley does not enter the role with as much experience in the world of MMO games as his predecessor, having previously served as COO of mobile media company m-Qube and telecom outfit Network Plus, Inc.
He is joined on the Turbine staff by other recent additions, including executive producer Walt Yarbrough and vice president of product development Craig Alexander. Yarbrough previously worked for EA Mythic, while Alexander served as general manager of Activision's Z-Axis studio and vice president of Westwood Studios.
A Turbine representative told GameSpot that Anderson will remain with the company, but will be moving to an as-yet undetermined role.
