Tropico 4 hitting PC in UK on August 26
[UPDATE] Kalypso bringing fourth city simulator to computers later this year; Xbox 360 version to follow in mid-September; North American release slated for August 30.
Gamers hoping to take a trip to the banana republic of Tropico 4 won't have to wait long to do so. Kalypso today sent word that the city simulator is slated to arrive in the UK on August 26. An Xbox 360 iteration of Tropico 4 will follow sometime in mid-September in the region.
Kalypso did not provide a release date for the North American iteration of Tropico 4, and as of press time, the publisher had not responded to GameSpot's request for comment.
As for the new game, Tropico 4 brings players back to the island nation of Tropico, where gamers are cast as El Presidente, the compassionate (or nefarious) ruler of the land. More specifically, Tropico 4 includes a 20-mission campaign set on 10 distinct environments and packs in 20 new buildings, including a shopping mall, aqua park, and stock exchange.
Additionally, the game incorporates new interactive disasters like tornadoes, volcanoes, and droughts to wreak havoc on the inhabitants of the banana republic.
The PC version of Tropico 4 will also feature social media integration via Facebook and Twitter. Players will be able to tweet and update their Facebook statuses in game to tell the world of their virtual feats.
[UPDATE] Kalypso has dated Tropico 4 for North America. The game is due out on PC on August 30. An Xbox 360 iteration will follow in mid-September.
