war for cybertron wasnt a bad game, at least the campaign was fun and entertaining for like 10 hours but after that it didnt have much left, this one might be better fingers crossed
War for Cybertron developer High Moon Studios handling 360 and PS3 editions of film tie-in, Behaviour Interactive creating distinct Wii, 3DS, DS versions.
Since Activision acquired the Transformers license in 2006, the only thing that's changed as much as the robots themselves has been the developers responsible for their games. That's going to change for the gaming tie-in of Transformers: Dark of the Moon, as Activision today confirmed that it has commanded a repeat performance from War for Cybertron developer High Moon Games.
Though it bears the same name as its cinematic inspiration, Transformers: Dark of the Moon is actually a prequel to the big-budget blockbuster, which arrives in theaters July 1. The game will introduce Shockwave to the Transformers movie games, as well as a new mechanic. In addition to their robot and vehicle modes, the Transformers in Dark of the Moon will have a hybrid "stealth force" mode combining firepower with mobility.
High Moon will handle development on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of the game, while Behaviour Interactive is prepping distinct versions for the Wii, 3DS, and DS. Beyond War for Cybertron, High Moon is best known as the studio behind Robert Ludlum's The Bourne Conspiracy game, as well as the 2005 horror-themed first-person shooter Darkwatch. Behaviour Interactive's recent projects include MySims: SkyHeroes, Dante's Inferno on the PSP, and Dorito's Crash Course on Xbox Live Arcade.
Lego Star Wars developer Traveller's Tales handled the first Transformers movie game on all consoles in 2007, shortly before being acquired by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. For the sequels, Activision handed the Xbox 360 and PS3 responsibilities to Luxoflux (which it later shuttered), with Krome Studios handling the Wii version. The next major Transformers release from the company, War for Cybertron, went to High Moon Studios on the Xbox 360 and PS3, with Next Level Games (2009's Punch-Out!!) developing the Wii version.

Transformers 1 was good, for the first level of Autobots campaign. Then driving around hoover dam was just terrible. T2 was just awful. War for Cybertron was amazing, so I'll assume this new game will be just as good.
The Transformers game based off the movie was terrible. I wasted 20 bucks to despreately drive in a labyrinth under the Hoover Dam; one of the few games I bought that I couldn't bear to complete. Horrible...
Well, the trailer for the movie on youtube looks interesting, with the Ark on the moon and stuff (assuming its the Ark) but the game... not sold. T1 was great T2 sucked, T3 is to be seen... but they have yet to make any good T game.
The game will be rushed, and the movie will be rubbish. Michael Bay can't see a good script even if it hit him in the face.
No PC version? that sucks.. but then again so did the first two transformers movie games. War for Cybertron was an awesome game in comparison. Too bad the PC won't be able to witness what the people behind WFC can do with this game.
yeah, movie games are awful. I can count on one hand the Movie (not franchise) based games that have actually been worth playing.
Transformers movie tie-ins are invariably rubbish. I enjoyed some aspects of War for Cybertron, the multiplayer was a blast but the story mode was pretty boring. There was also a 2004 Transformers game for PS2 which was really good. I think High Moon are the right developers for the job, but I doubt whether Bobby "pimp his own grandmother" Kotick will actually give them enough space to deliver a playable game. Activision would rather sell half a game to make a quick buck than give developers a little more time to complete it. I'd normally see how the game shapes up, but as Activision are involved I'm not even going to consider it.
movie based games are just pure junk doesnt understand why wasting resources to make such games no offence to those fanboys
I really hope they make a good game. I personally won't buy it, but only because there's so many other titles coming out close to that same time frame... I mean come on, I'll still be playing Dungeon Siege III.....
To be honest, I'm not really expecting much from the movie... I mean, sure, the first one was great because of its incredible special effects (that should have won the oscar, instead of "The Golden Compass"), and for its entertaining take on transformers. It was really incredible, though the stupid humor and terrible dialogue got in the way of everything. Revenge of the Fallen was terrible in every way, again besides special effects (and soundtrack, which I'd recommend). Dark of the Moon... I've never really liked Michael Bay all that much. I'm going to see it because I simply have to watch Bayhem in 3D, but besides that... The game might be good if the developers built on what War for Cybertron had. I liked it a lot in spite of its slower-paced bits later, and if the developers go with that strong foundation, it could be good! I'm not really anticipating the Wii, PSP, and DS versions, though... I think Red Fly should handle it, seeing how well they ported other games (SW: TFU2, Ghostbusters).
I have high hopes for this game. As long as it controls like War for cybertron, has great multiplayer and good character customization, ill be one happy camper
I loved War for Cybertron. I wish it was more popular because that was a great game. Hopefully this plays somewhat the same way.
People saying Bay destroyed Transformers may be unaware of the fact that even after Beast Wars, Robots in Disguise, Unicron Trilogy, Animated and the movies (not to mention Kiss Players), the original cartoon still exists. It's only ruined if you let it. I'm looking forward to this one given the reputation of War for Cybertron. Movie games can be good, look at the new Back to the Future episodic games, or Peter Jackson's King Kong.
this could be good, lets just hope they don't make it some garbage movie game just out for the money
If this is basically a reskin like Halo ODST was to Halo 3, it'll be a buy. War For Cybertron is a great game, and if it's based on that...
I really hope it's as good if not better than War for Cybertron. That game was everything a Transformers fan could want.
apparently its going to be a lot like war for cybertron which was awesome. nice change to have a good transformers game.
Well at first I thought gauranteed flop but seeing who the developer is, it might have a chance at being good. At the same time, no matter who the developer is... movie video games usually suck
Good to know that this game is still in the very capable hands of High Moon. Can't wait to check this game out.
Eh. War for Cybertron was good because it had nothing to do with the movies, in fact, the designs were based on the original cartoon. Now that High Moon is restricted to using the movie designs and all that... blah, I just see this being an uninspired cash in.
I'll keep my eyes on this one. War for Cybertron was very good and very fun so this one might just make Transformer fans happy once again. :)
ah. YUCK! They should scratch these entire games line up and make transformers game line up based on the classic cartoon series and spend at least 2-5 years making it instead of rushing it like these games will be.
That being said, I like the prequel concept, but what you need to be doing is take your sweet time making this. Don't release it with the movie if it isn't finished. That is why movie games fail.
I don't know what's worse, Michael Bay's mindless mutilations of a classic cartoon series or Activision's mindless mutilations of Michael Bay's mindless mutilations. lol
Idk. I'm very disappointed michael bay messed up the original Transformers story for me. Why cant we have the gameplay from Transformers (PS2)? Imagine how cool that transformers game would be with online play, and enhanced graphics?!! That was about the only cool transformers game i played. After that, the franchise has gotten weak.
Movie tie in game= No Buy Proper Sequel to War for Cybertron=Buy Don't know why activision is pulling High Moon in to make this game when they could be making another WFC, I thought they liked profit
I was fully expecting the full title to be "gets canned." Oh well, one more Transformers game for me to not buy.
